Tshwane gets Internet hubba hubba (M&G)

Tshwane really is doing amazing stuff. Very dissapointed that Cape Town is not in the forefront here. Very dissapointed.

Well.... in terms of internet access, we are ALL part of the "previously disadvantaged areas", with the exception of those who had the money to pay for TelkomADSL! :D Meaning... I should qualify! :D
 
Well, in Tshwane they have nothing else to do :p

At least in CT there are beaches etc to go to.

There you have it... Storm Internet service provider. 50% is more like it is... good for 'em if they'll go for 90%.

And the funny thing is, I was with Storm, back in the old days, then I went over to Mweb, then to Saix. Maybe the wheel is turning and I'll be back with Storm once more... ;)

The date given for the finish of this project is June 2006. Still a long way off, but I expect that they will start to roll out services in the meantime. And it's not just wired connections, they will also provide wireless.

Which is good, if you are paranoid and don't want teklom to mess with your wires. I myself will go with this wireless option... since I don't trust Teklom anymore.

From Midrand (south) to Hammanskraal (north) from Hartbeespoort (west) to Mamelodi (east) they've got the entire area covered pretty good. Most customers are within 2 to 3kms away from access points.

This is very good.

So, if we can hang on a little longer, then we can say good-bye to sky-high telephone bills and enjoy cheaper Internet.

Oh, they will also support VOIP... which is a good thing.

So, let the price battles begin! And I expect Teklom to really moan and groan about real competition... :D

As an aside - I really do hope teklom doesn't run to their friends in "guavamint" and ask them to force all the other service providers to raise their prices - if they do so, then it will be open war... :eek:
 
Five wireless hot spots have already been identified for pilot projects to analyse how communities use ADSL. A high-density site in Centurion has been identified for one hot spot and anybody within a 5km radius will have free access to ADSL.
