I have a double sided 512mb pc133 ram and my Gigabyte ga-6vm7a+ board only shows it to be a 256mb. The manual says the board can read 512mb.

any help?

i have the latest bios

seeing you put this in the adsl section...i would double check to see that you didnt put the ram into a pci slot :P just jokes welcome to myadsl!

Did you buy Telkom RAM? If so, it is probably shaped or capped. You will need to buy another 512MB of RAM, or upgrade to the 1GB of RAM package to be able to use 512...

LMAO. :D That's a good one!

ram probably is perfectly fine, you state its double sided! your board probably has an incompatibility with this!

Yeah, dont listen to me, i did have this problem with a client and it was the speed that was the problem.

again look at the board he has ... it supports PC133.

I had a problem where a 256mb chip showed up as 512mb and it was the RAM.

If i bought a 256mb RAM stick that showed up as 512mb, then I definately WOULD NOT send it back. :)

I was under the impression that SDRAM was down-gradable, ie: PC133 RAM can be used in place of PC100, albeit at the slower clock speed. I may be wrong though :)

Incorrect 100 can be used in place of 133 not the other way round.
