Anybody successfully played a 3D movie using their PS3?

I have done the software updates on the device, anything else required (apart from of course having a 3D title and 3D TV etc)

Interesting as I would love to hook up my PS3 to a 3Dtv.

I know GT5 does 3D but not aware of any other movie titles in 3D

You will need to check if your HDMI cable is ver 1.4 spec. I had problems with my original 1.3 spec cable.

I have done it. Basicly just has ps3 new update en played the movie. Also played crysis 2 in 3D :) its cool, but do it for 3 hours on end and u might die. I got the 3D tv on good deal, would not really recommend spending a lot of extra cash to get 3D though, not yet anyway.

Not really. v1.3 will do, you just have to make sure its 1.3.
1.3 is for 3D ready or 720p 3D (which is equivalent to normal 1080p).
1.4 is for FHD 3D - and none of the current TV's can do this.
Remember, 3D basically splits the image into 2.

Done the same. Bought a few movies from Amazon, 1/2 the price than here.
The cable is very very important.
My original cable from 2006 did not work (sure now it is <1.3).
I bought a 1.4 cable from bidorbuy and it worked on the demos i have downloaded (480p).
But when i tried 720p 3D, it struggled, so used the cable that came with the free 3D player on the PS3 and it worked.

BTW: 3D on TV is hella lot better than cinema.

Found that my hdmi 1.3 cable would not work either. Works fine with HDMI 1.4. BTW I got them from hdcabling.

Thanks for the replies. I guess i will need to check what version HDMI cable i have - i dont know how i will do that. I dont have the packaging? Probably an old version, i bought that cable a few years back.

thanks for the info. Now where are all the MyBB experts that claimed any cheap cable will do the same job? I must search for that thread. :)

Also bought a 1.4 from hdcabling and questioning whether its 1.4.
Ignoring sound for now, remebering that 3D requires 2 images, so, 3D 480p = normal 720p or 3D 720p = 1080p.
So 1.3 does max 1080p or 3d 720p. v1.4 does > 2x 1080p.
With 1.3, there are a few different types (just wiki it to check) and it is all about data transfer speeds.

So the v1.4 from hdcabling did 3D 480p but had some problems with 3D 720p - yet the cable that came with my free 3D blu ray player worked.

1.3 will work.
I have 6 cables at home and prettuer sure the HD PVR's cable is not 1.4, yet it works.
If it does not, its not 1.3.
There maybe a sound downgrade from HD to normal.
Google and check.

quality of cable is very important, i have experience with certain cables just not doing what they supposed to. I once spent 3hrs diagnosing HDMI handshaking trouble on a site, turns out nothing was wrong but the "new Ellies" HDMI cable I was using at the source, never again! Thumbs up to the cables from HDCabling ! Good quality good price

would you recommend the Samsung 40" FULL HD LED 3D (UA40D6000) TV? At R10 K I think it's reasonable....

This would obviously be for gaming as well

In that price range the 51" Samsung D550 Full HD 3D plasma is a much better buy at R11k.

You can play 3D movies and games with your PS3?? More reason for me to buy one, especially over the blasted red ringing 360 (yes, it happened to me.)
