Anyone know of an ftp client that be controlled via a web interface? I did google and I found plenty but that's for ftp SERVERS. I'm looking for a client that can be controlled via http.

For eg. I use filezilla to download files from a remote ftp server to my home pc. But I would like to access my home pc remotely and tell filezilla which file to download and what to do. I don't want to use remote desktop.

It doesn't have to be filezilla but anything that has that functionality. Anyone who knows of sabnzbd will know exactly what I'm talking about - just for ftp.

Preferably a linux program.

free download manager has ftp and a web interface option.

tried using an auto trader, then again depends on your "ftp" access to some dubious other tools ;)

Huh? auto trader? what are you on about?

Have you tried an online tool like this: net2ftp.com

Yes, but that software only works if you leave the browser open, so that software is more like a 'proxy' then a client that you can control remotely.

wow, that really is an interesting one, I don't think a tool like that has been developed.
What you should look into - is a slim-remote-desktop like radmin or something, I've also been on the hunt for several web-controlled common task applications, but they seem to be few and far between. If anyone knows of a GOOD process/tasklaunching/admin Web Interface for remote control of a PC - other than a remote desktop, let me know, coz I'd be seriously interested.

I know your frustration. So far the closest thing I could get to some sort of web ui was wget4web. It does everything I want except I really really would like it to show a list of the remote files on the server and let me just pick one to download instead of forcing me to connect to the ftp server using some other software, copy the link and then paste it into the web ui.

I want to use debian or similar for the OS without a gui, that's why I need something that can do ftp, but with a web ui.
