Best AGP Nvidia Price/Type/Who?

As topic says..Since my gfix card fan is dying and card itself served its days, looking for a decent 8x AGP Gfix card...

Sadly i have not got a PCIX Mobo, I just got this PC *not just 2 weeks before they pushed out PCIX*

Mostly a gamer....So any tips of best AGP Nivida cards i can get with price and who will be great :)

My Xmas present :p

wow, I said this in another thread early today, but buying expensive AGP card today seems to me like wasting money ... I would not spend more than R600-700 on an AGP card. Don't forget it is going into the waste bin when you decide to upgrade ...
 
I dont mind the cost and i am aware of upgrading later....

At moment i just want an Nvidia AGP card that is better than Radeon X800 XT PRO.

Anyone still stock high end Nvidia AGP cards?

Problem is the 6800 Ultra is not manufactured anymore. Your best bet would be a Geforce 6800 GT. [that kicks that X800 Pro's ass ;)]

And there's no such thing as a X800 XT Pro...it's either a X800 Pro or a X800 XT

They had the Legend 6600GT 128MB AGP for R651.
By the time i saw it they were out of stock, some lucky sod got a bargain ;)

Yes, I was also wondering if the current card is a Pro or an XT. The 6600GT is in any case slower than both.

The 6800GT is mostly between the two in terms of speed. Certainly not enough of a difference to justify paying real money for a replacement card even if the current card is a Pro. I would say one would have to go up a whole generation (7800 or X1800) to make replacing an X800 yield any value.
 
But the NVIDIA 7 series and ATI X1800 series are all PCI-E based. That is the problem for him.
 
Yes, AGP has reached a bit of a dead end. I am just worried that Borgir will spend thousands and then not notice any difference whatsoever (or even go slower in the case of the 6600 GT). I think Borgir already has about the best card he can get for his motherboard.
 
I'm still going to wait for the next gen cards before i think about an upgrade. still happy with my 9800XT. Even then i will have to wait and see if the apps, games what ever put my gpu to death. GPUs are just too expensive... ATI is sheduled to have their new cards out by the end of 2006. Those are said to better than the cards that they slapped into the XBOX360...
 
i am quite happy with my newer 7800GT GS since if i need some a more horsepower in the future i might think of SLI. But from a 6800GT AGP i do notice a great deal of difference in the latest games out there, specially since i run at a native resolution of 1280x1024 due to the LCD.
