Bloody hell the SNO have had 3 frikin years to get ready for a roll out? Why the extra 6-9 months (probably meaning 12 months)?

They hardly sound like a knight in shining armour charging to our aid? More like a slug trying to haul its ass over to a fresh corpse ...
 
Bad Feeling About This

I think SNO will just be another telkom and then we cant blame telkom anymore cos they will say we have competition and whatelse they can think of

Telkom = Icasa
SNO = Icasa

Same everything. I don't even get happy about this SNO. I want to see the changes before I believe it.
 
The SNO really doesn't know about our frustrations. I think that swift action on the SNO's side will really made its business blossom.
 
if they got any business sense they can make a lot of money and laught at telkom for being around ages and ages and the sno opens and closes telkom :P

but we still need LLU !!!!
 
New SNO

What I cant understand is that everybody can't wait for the new SNO, but what makes anybody think they will be cheaper than Telkom. Let take for example our Cellphone companys. We've got 3 of them in this country and to this date I cant say that prizes dropped a cent when Cell C came abroad. Then everybody is wailing at the prizes Telkom charge for their ADSL lines, but I hear nobody bitching about our wireless friends astranomical prizes for wireless modems and caps. Maybe I am missing the point.

rpm, Debbie2 and co: how about submitting a list of demands/requests - basically say that if the SNO meets these demands they will have the full support of the MyADSL community at their launch ...

AYCEBB I don't think anyone around here (MyADSL) has illusions of the SNO being the saviour! But at the same time, licencing the SNO is a milestone. It will not bring price decreases anytime soon, yes we know that, but the fact that we now have a SNO is a platform; it's a step towards setting the stage for a future competitive market. And that's the importance of the SNO and reason for the excitement and good cheers.

There does seem to be two distinct opinions, and I take the other view.
The SNO, starting from a base of ZERO customers, will need to attract business.
Merely offering the same products at the same prices will not do this for them.
Prices out of necessity will need to be lower than them whose name shall not be mentioned. In turn, they will need to do something to retain customers and their obscene profits.
 
I think a few pilot projects using wireless connections in a densely populated area will convince the SNO how quickly money can be made in broadband. This will reduce its breakeven point from 6 years to 3 years.
 
My company is working on some of the tender components for the SNO infrastructure... some good stuff in it :)

The guys are asking the right questions and know what they want.

I specificaly looked at the Internet Data Center component and it is going to be insanely fast. My buddy worked on the core component and it is also super reliable and built to be extremely fast from the start.

Proposals to be submitted no later than tomorrow so we'll have to wait and see what they do next year!
