VIVO, and now what?

I bought a 7800GTX, and it came with Vivo and HDTV. Now What do these mean, i know america gets high-def TV, but thats pretty pointless here though, but does Vivo make it that i can record from T.v to my computer, or just watch it on the screen or what.

It came with all the wires, now i just wanna know what it does.

video in, video out (for capturing form a vcr, or a camcorder, or dstv or mnet)
you would also need to hook up the audio source to the line in, then use something like windows movie maker (included with windows xp) to capture stuff.

the hdtv part is an output dongle, more than likely in component video form,for sending out high-res tv compliant video signals...unless you got a high res lcd/plasma then it is not worth doing.
 
Cool, So i connect the Svideo in to the TV's video out, and the audio, then i should be able to use a program (windows movie maker), to record Tv, so that i could watch it later or something.

Some okes, where telling me its just 4 if you wanna like use ure monitor with a PS2.

Or do i have to connect it directly to the DSTV, decoder??

It is better if you connect it directly, but nothing prevents you connecting it via the TV, so you can see what you recording, with some loss of quality for the extra connection.

that for the just PS2 is BS! You can connect everything, from your DSTV decoder, to PS2, to your analog camcorder, to whatever, everything that has S-video or composite video out can be connected. You can use VirtualDub (or one of its variants) for recording in AVI format and compress it real time. I haven't found yet a decent program that can do sheduled recording like your VHS/PVR can, so good luck with that, but otherwise the recording quality should be fairly good, or if you want you can just watch DSTV on your monitor without recording it, there is free program called amcap which can do full screen, I am sure there are others too.
 
When i try it with movie maker, it says class not registered, then says device in use, what settings do i have to change in Nvidia settings.

I don't know this movie maker, I found all MS multimedia software next to useless. You normally will need to install the nVidia capture driver, and some codecs (like xVid, DivX etc.). Then you can use any program to capture video, inside the relevant program that you will be using for video capture there should be input selection (S-video or composite), select the appropriate one. Also there should be an option to select the audio/video compression to be used. Then you just press capture ...

for MPEG (DVD) Mainconcep MPEG encoder, but it is cmomercial I think

for AVI (DivX, xVid) VirtualDub/NanDub, both free

for scheduled reording, someone else will have to help you as I don't know any good one. Try VirtualVCR in mean time, but I think it is a bit doggy.
 
Ok thanks, i got the Video to come through with virtual Dub, but how do you get audio, can u do it through the video card or do you have t get a special connector that will go into ure sound card.
 
otherwise what cable do i have to get, to use audio out to the standard connectors on a sound card.
 
for audio you use your audio card line in, there is no special connector, you need plain 2xRCA to 3.5 mm stereo cable, you can buy this cable in any shop for 30 bucks or so.

Then the audio will get recorded by VirtualDub. You will need to select what compression you want from the Audio menu, that would usually be MP3/128 kbps stereo, so you may need to install an MP3 codec as well if you don't have one already.

no problem, I used to record a lots of stuff that way before I bought an LG DVD recorder
 
um is it possible to play your ps2/xbox/gamecube on your pc's monitor using a card that supports vivo?:o

yep, get amcap or some other simple program that can do full screen from video in, and there you go
