So I have a friends 21st coming up in a week, and I have no idea what to get him.

There are two option pretty much, either I get him something on my own which means I am looking to pay about R200 or a group of us (+-8) chip in an we get him something worth about R1500.

We were thinking advanced driving courses but those are all over R2000 and the one place that could have given it to us for that price is fully booked till December.

He doesnt want alcohol cause he always says (and does) get it himself (and the rest of us) for less (his uncle has a restaurant) so that idea is also out.

Any other cool ideas?

A watch or a good leather wallet.

The watch is a common gift for 21st's so i would go for the wallet.

Other options: a poker set, sporting stuff for the sport he plays the most, tickets to Kylie Minogue if he is a fan.

sorry do not mean to be rude as you actually gave some decent suggestions but what 21 year old would want to watch Kylie Minogue

Kylie is hot dude - why not? I did add "if he is a fan"

i saw this on bidnbuy today:
WHY BUY A PAKDONKIE WALLET?

"has natural variations like tick bites and scratch marks which lend to the uniqueness and authenticity of each product" - so you can buy him 50 cos they're all unique.

Full grain leather has natural variations like tick bites and scratch marks which lend to the uniqueness and authenticity of each product.

Simply open your wallet, put your money in and turn the wallet over.

Open it again and see how it grabs your money.

If were to get him an advanced driving course, it would be something performance (track) based rather than on a skid pan.

BMW (who I have emailed) but are over R2000 from what I have heard.
Merc want R2200 but VW have a track course for R1600 (half the day) which isnt bad and is done in a GTI I think.
But Im keeping my options open.

Watches he doesnt wear, but a wallet is a pretty good idea. What does a decent leather go for?
I actually got one (Leather Polo) for my 13th from a family friend and 7 years down the line it is still awesome :)
Poker set is cool, but not for him, but Kylie I wouldnt even ask about :D

He is a big chelsea fan and plays soccer on occasion, but I dont know what I would get him from that range...

Thanks so far though! Keep the ideas coming!

R1500 would get a pretty nice socket-set or tool set...

Unfortunately he isnt into wood work or anything like that, cause that could have been a very nice gift otherwise.

I was actually kinda surprised at how few decent ideas I could come up with.

Hmm you're not making this easy. How about some shades then?
Also not a bad idea... you could get a decent pair for that prize.
Im going to discuss some of these ideas with the other guys though but I rate we will find something cool.

What is he into?

What is he into?
Soccer (chelsea is his team), driving (hence the driving course) and what ever most guys who grow up in Jhb are in to.
Nothing particularly outdoor orientated or working with your hands type of stuff.

I just thought, could also get a good bottle of aftershave (probably a gift set) for that money. Anyone seen any nice offers lately?
