Shocking that Socikwa will just not answer: “obviously we are a competitor, and we will compete aggressively”.

I suppose that a spokesperson cannot really be expected to comment in stuff that does not exist yet.

I read this as:

We will be creating different offerings so that the public will not be able to tell the price difference between our and Telkom's products.

Different people, same troubles! Haven't we been crying "DUOPOLY" for a long time now? And now it's confirmed...

I have to say it again: until the SA consumer understands their power as a group, NOTHING WILL CHANGE!!!!

The SNOT is here too make a profit as any business does. It will have too offer better services at a better price than Telkom
for them to build a customer base, although many will swap purely because it's not Telkom they will still have charm existing Telkom
customers.... let it play out, let it play out..... this is just the first step .
 
If I were a management consultant advising the SNO. I would advise them to join up with either IS or UUNET for data and services and corporate services. It is by far the easiest way it will get a foothold in that market and for the foreseeable future the two player will not be able to self provide so it will be a mutually beneficial relationship.. my 2 cents worth :)
 
as i sit here at the beach, baking in the african sun, i can only say let's wait and see before making assumptions about what will happen. understandably mr socikwa isnt about to let any cats out of bags at this stage so lets wait n see. they know they have massive potential, and hopefully they have plans to take full advantage of it. they must be as excited as when telkom send out their bills..

The reason the plans are a mystrey, is because THEY DONT EVEN KNOW !

You only know how sweet the sweet is if you have had the bitter, I think we are going to grow to love Tel Scum over TIME

Similar interests? Like screwing the customer for every penny he/she/it has?

Isn't that the general interest of most SA inductries/companies? :( Take cars, where we're getting screwed left, right and centre... that, and the telecomms seem to be the worst, but the rest isn't far behind.

But (this is my opinion, and lately becoming my pet-subject as well!) we, the customers/consumers, are stupid enough to take it! It's mainly our own fault! Take cars again: as soon as a new model is released, people flog to buy it, whether they really need it or not! If everybody would refuse to buy it, and only show interest, then complain about the price and walk away, the powers-that-be will start to drop their exhorbitant profit margins!
