Most of the modem Vodacom sells currently comes out with with VMC Lite v10.0 or v10.1.
You can download the full VMC from Vodacom website.
The link: http://help.vodacom.co.za/portal/engine?handler=script&script=template&view=html&context=template&name=main_software_downloads&type=Broadband&softdown=Software
As far as I know, the modems that Vodacom sells are locked and can only work with Vodacom Sim.
The only modem that I know of that you could replace the firmware and use any sim you wish was the E220.
Cheers.:)

You need to be sure that your modem is not network-locked, if it was bought from Vodacom in South Africa it won't be locked.
The Vodafone modem models with a '-Z' prefix are manufactured by ZTE, and one can find ZTE's Join Air dashboard which works with any operator's SIM card, provided the modem itself is not network-locked. Unfortunately, the K3805-Z uses an Icera chipset and will not work with Join Air (it uses a different set of AT commands).
You can try MDMA (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/59080), currently only the 1.0.0.31 beta version (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/303489) works with the K3805-Z. It is also possible to modify the Vodafone Mobile Broadband dashboard to support your operator by adding some XML configuration files, as shown here (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/329152).

im sure the modem is not network locked, it only locked by software (VMC lite) as i don't use the VMC to connect, i can create dial up networking under my xp and its work. but problems come again that my live area doesn't covered by 3Gs ignal very well, so i can't choose to use 3G only..
below is programs work with K3805-Z, it can use dashboard to connect, but as i say that it can not lock the signal to 3G only :(
http://softwaredownloads.o2.co.uk/O2Broadband_SoftwareDownloads/Connection_Manager_RC4.5.exe
i hope someone can help me to rebranding the dashboard....

I'm not Rockhound, but anyway, you will need to edit the XML files for your operator by renaming the directory and making changes in some of the files, notepad.exe will do for making the changes. You will need to know the MCC and MNC for your operator, the example was done for Cell-C South Africa; MCC 655 for South Africa and MNC 07 for Cell-C.
