How to boost Wifi signal?

I need to extend the range on a wifi network.

Will the Netgear Universal WiFi Range Extender, Wireless-N 2.4GHz up to 300Mbps do the trick?

Is it as simple as plugging it in? What configuration needs to be done?

No idea about the product but two ways to extend range is to up the power level (if the device allows allows it) or use decent external antennas.
