Do you own a Kia Picanto 1.1 2009 model? Is it a good car or a cheap piece of junk ?

So I am thinking of getting a 2009 kia picanto for my first car. If you have one i need to be persuaded or dissuaded as to whether I should get this car. Bear in mind I only have a budget of R70000 with which I can get a 2009 picanto with 3 years of warrant left. If you have one tell me about your experiences with this car (any problems, servicing costs, replacing parts, insurance or anything else).

My fiancee bought a Kia Picanto 2009 demo model a year and a half ago. Other than some seriously shocking service from the sales representative whilst purchasing the car at the Paarden Island branch we have had only good experiences with Kia and the car itself. The service centre was great, and the service was not expensive. We haven't had to replace any parts, so can't comment on that. Overall I would definitely recommend the car :)

My wife has a 2005 Picanto. We call her old faithful because she never let's us down :)

Good car, the new one (2012 version) is even better...

I drove a 2006 model and wasn't very impressed but maybe the newer models are better.
I drive a Kia Cerato now so I have nothing against Kia.
It's just that entry level models tend to be like bread bins on wheels - lots of cheap plastic, not enough mass to keep them steady in windy conditions and a serious lack of sound deadening material.

I had a Picanto. I still missed the car. Was a very nice car and was very quick for such a small car.
Had no trouble with it for the whole time I had it.
Reason I sold/upgraded. The 2 year maintenance contract run out and it cost to much to extend it.

Solid little car, just don't expect it to look like an Audi inside.

With the new model coming out soon, how would this affect resale on the previous generation?

Old faithful for 6 year old car?

I'd say old faithful if it came out the 80's / 90's, but most cars should be faithful if they came out the 2000's, provided they are treated well...
