Help setting up new iTunes account on old iPAd

HI. I'm sure if i google this extensively i'll find a solution but just figured if someone here
knows it might be easier.

I setup my father's iPad for him using iTunes on my laptop. Now i want to install iTunes for him on his PC so that he can sync or install apps or do whatever. How do i go about doing this without losing any of the apps on the iPad. Do i create an iPad backup on my Itunes and copy it to his PC then after i install iTunes on his PC i restore the Ipad from the backup i made on my laptop?

Is that the simplest way to install and use iTunes on a new PC without losing your iPad data?

Also, where does Windows keep the backups?? I found the Apple folder with all the apps but not the backup file itself.

First you sync and make a backup on your laptop as usual.

Then you install iTunes on your dad's PC. You connect and sync. That's it. It will copy all data onto the new PC. But you have to authorize the new PC it by entering your existing iTunes password.

thanks! was worried that if i sync with an "empty" iTunes i'd lose all the data...what if i create a new iTunes account for him? will it not sync if the apps were downloaded using my iTunes account and his iTunes is registered with a new account?

No, if I remember correctly it doesn't sync the items that weren't authorized. You can have up to 5 computer authorized at a time. You authorize, sync, then you sign out of your account and sign in with the new one. The apps will stay on the iPad but your dad won't be able to update them without your password.

I share one iTunes account between my iPhone, the SO's iPhone and her recently acquired iPad on 2 different machines and it works perfectly. If I buy an app she can download install it as well without purchasing it again.

When moving to a new machine I have found that once you authorize the machine with the same account you can copy the apps over and double clicking on them will install them into iTunes.
