Hey guys,

We've been arguing quite a bit lately and I want to start trying to get things back on track, starting with the basics.

So which restaurants would you recommend from personal experience to be the most romantic? It should also have a good selection of food. Money is no object :)

This might sound seriously low-class, but the Col'cacchios in Bryanston is a popular date-spot, mostly because of the awesome view. It's packed most nights and the food is accessible.

Low-class?

Its a great place! It is VERY packed on weekends though, I would book if I were you.

I could use some suggestions myself, got a date on Friday. I've said lets meet in Parkhurst, cos I know there are some good restaurants etc on the road where the Jolly Roger is. No, we arent going to the Jolly Roger is. Havent been to that area in a while, is it still cool?

Agreed, Col'cacchios is an awesome choice!

That shopping center is a nightmare to get in and out of though :erm:

Local Grill in Parkhurst.. Wombles in the same area...

Allora in Sandton (same centre as Taboo)...

Parkhurst is a bit Melville-ish. Personally I was thinking of something along the lines of La Bell Terrasse at The Westcliff, but we've already been there.

The romance is not in the venue, it is in the company. Keep this in mind for whatever venue you choose.

+1 for Wombles, since it's so cosy and the food is so amazing.

Melville-ish? Meaning?

Nothing derogatory, don't worry :) I got the feeling that it felt a bit like Melville, where all the restaurants are quite close to each other. Depending on your requirements, it may not be ideal if you want a quiet, candle-lit dinner.

Off course I may have the wrong suburb entirely :D

Bellgables Country Restaurant in Muldersdrift... 20 to 30 minute drive... Best romantic restaurant ever!
The website doesn't mention you are guaranteed to get lucky after being there but they might as well go ahead and say just that... ;)

McDonnalds, the one on the corner of Greyston and Rivonia in Sandton ;-)

OK, jokes aside, I can really REALLY recommend Le Canard in Sandton. We go there often, especially when they have classical music performances.

You can check out their special events page too, often there are some really nice happenings.

Green Peppercorn in morning side, the best dessert you have ever tasted or Bukhara Indian restaurant in Sandton man the food is good there.

I recommend La Scala at Montecasino. Unlike most of the restaurants, it's upstairs so you avoid the noise of the casino floor. Atmosphere is quite pleasant. Service is good. Food is incredible. Cuisine is Italian, including fish, steaks, etc.
