UniforumSA - Get your phone number format right

thanks bud.
were they planning to announce this to domain admins at some stage?

They do send an additional email to you on any updates/registrations and they also sent the following notice via the internet.org.za mail list.

Hi all,

In order to facilitate moving to an EPP based system, we need to enforce certain data standards. In particular, the EPP specification requires telephone numbers to be stored in a specific format (see http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5733#section-2.5).

As from the 30 May 2011 any phone number entered in a co.za application that is not in the required format will attract a warning. After 27 June
2011 any application received where field 2j does not meet the required standard will be rejected.

If you are unable to adapt your systems before the deadline, please contact us off list so that we may fully understand your constraints.

The telephone format is as per
http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5733#section-2.5 .
As an example, our telephone number would be written as
+27.113140077 or +27.113140077x200 (for extension 200).

The total length for the telephone number is 15 numerical characters (Country Code and Number) combined, excluding the + and ., and the extension is limited to 10 numerical characters.

regards
