Description:
Our client, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company, is looking to employ an Infrastructure Analyst.

Key purpose:
To be part of a global infrastructure team operating and maintaining local and remote infrastructure services.

Key responsibilities:
* Serve as a technical expert providing support to Support Analysts.
* Testing, operating and maintaining the company’s infrastructure to include: Particular focus on the Technical IS Citrix applications environment (where relevant), Particular focus on Windows based Technical IS workstation builds (where relevant). Particular focus on Unix based Technical IS workstation/server builds (where relevant), Servers, Virtualisation, Routers, Switches, Networks, Communication systems.
* Develop cost estimates and make recommendations for system development and upgrades to existing systems.
* Maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence in relation to work carried out, in particular change control and configuration management.
* Use of diagnostic tools to diagnose problem areas and devise resolution.
* To provide excellent business-oriented communications about incidents and issues to both other IS team members and local business leadership.
* Delivery of a measured infrastructure service against an agreed internal SLA/OLA.
* To take ownership of the infrastructure in your location and execute and maintain enhancements to the environment. This will be achieved through a structured approach to change control. This will also apply to any remote locations where you have ownership of equipment.
* To work within the overall global infrastructure team to achieve a high level of service and up-time for all infrastructure.

Qualifications and skills required:
* MCSE qualification with demonstrable time spent supporting Windows servers, networks and infrastructure systems.
* ITIL foundation course and above or demonstrated working within an ITIL environment preferable.
* Experience with working with networks including understanding of IP networks/addressing, routing and troubleshooting.
* Demonstrates the ability to work within a team to deliver ongoing operations and project activities.
* Experience or a clear understanding of the application of Service Management/ITIL (or equivalent) as a methodology to achieve efficient and effective IT operations.
* Experience producing technical documentation is essential.
* Experience with Unix (Solaris) / Linux and working in a heterogeneous environment is advantageous.
* To be successful, the individual must have specific experience and professional accreditation in Windows Server (e.g. to MCSE level) including: Windows 2003/2008 Group Policies (GPOs) – design and implementation; Exchange 2007; Windows scripting (VBS or otherwise) – including logon scripts; Registry management; Base metal server builds and subsequent maintenance.
* Experience with Citrix and VM Ware (and other hypervisors) would be advantageous.
* In addition, the individual should have a thorough understanding of networks (LAN and WAN), switches, security protocols and firewalls. CISCO experience is preferred, whilst CCNA or equivalent is not essential.
* Professional, open, honest and a clear communicator.
* Enthusiastic learner, recognising the need to experience a broad range of service provision before taking on sole accountability for systems and services.
* Capable of taking on responsibility for systems within existing areas of expertise.
* Commitment to providing excellent service to the Information Systems’ team.
* Proactive and responsible individual looking ahead to possible events that might impair service quality.
* Mentoring and providing support across the Infrastructure Team for those of less experience.
* Providing clear verbal and written communication within the Infrastructure Team and the wider Information Systems Team.
* Taking ownership of a problem through to resolution.
