The Sony NGP (next generation portable) has been named - Vita. I don't think it's the greatest name, but whatever.

The price is impressive to me - $250, (wifi-only, $300 for 3G model) and if that sounds like a lot: consider this: A gorgeous 5" AMOLED touch screen, Quad Core CPU and super fast graphics, about on par with PS3.

I think I wish I was at E3 :(

It looks good IMO, but all new consoles always do ;)
 
& what will the price be in SA? Ill be surprised if its +-R3000

Probably R2500 for the wi-fi version and R3000 for the 3g version.

It does look awesome though.
 
Eish this thing is still not out! Nintendo 3DS has been out since March!
I was waiting for the Vita but got tired of waiting and bought the 3DS.

The Vita looks to be the better of the two though.

Sure the Vita "concept" looks amazing, but it doesn't exist... so there's that little problem. Its like saying a concept car is better than a REAL car. Its only better in your dreams
 
Stupid question - would you be able to use the Vita as a phone?

Yeah, I think 3G will provide all sorts of cool VoIP functionality (assuming Sony allows it) - I just hope data contracts will have come down enough in price to make that type of feature usable in SA... :/

maybe not but SA is starting to comply with US prices, just look at the psp3000 which used to cost around R3000 now u can find it for R1299, when the price dropped in the US to 129$, pretty sure its not because shops decided to be nice to us..
most hardware are getting closer to prices in US so im assuming its gonna cost around R2500 - R3000.
and btw this is a june thread that got revived by everyone 3days ago :/
 
Seems a good deal. I bought a Psp3004 about a month ago for R1499. The RemotePlay feature is awesome, I can play games and movies off the ps3.

Sony really created a legend in the PS3.

I'm sure most are aware of that but as it gets closer 2 launch I think ppl just want 2 hav a chat about the device.

They did also announce last week Wednesday that the release date for Europe would be 22nd of February 2012. At 230 British Pounds for the 3G model, I guess we can expect to see it for that pre-order price Kalahari has listed.

I'm not sold on the Vita, especially the 3-5 hours of battery life when playing games.
