So lastnight, am asleep (natural -no drinks or drugs) at about 11pm, & all of a sudden I'm awake, but cannot move a muscle, totally paralysed, can't call or nudge the missus awake next to me!
Frighting aspect is that my mind is totally aware of the experience! The real scarry part is that my body feels as if a mountain is on it, real bone crushing stuff! I've been under a scrum pile, riddden high speed motorbikes & been under water so I KNOW intense pressure!
I thought I'm gonna die! In my mind I call out to GOD desperately...
& then suddenly its over! This has happened twice in last 6 years, 1st being 6 years ago!

I'm intrigued so tried to research the incident - went onto a site, Medihelp but unfortunately can't read the whole story as am on a mobile device (curses Telskum!)
But seems it is not an uncommon happening! Little I gathered is that it seems that your soul is travelling out of your body, & it wakes up before the soul returns.
Which is fine by me, as I did experience an OOB incident when I was about 9, most wonderful experience!

Am ok with it - but why the body breaking pressure!
If you ever got caught in a 4 meter dumper while trying catch a surf wave, you'll know, what I'm talking about!

In African culture, isolated sleep paralysis is commonly referred to as "the witch riding your back"

:D

I've experienced this a few times but without the weight/pressure, just can't move and I'm not fully awake.

Maybe your soul took your bladder to the loo. Or maybe you just had sleep paralysis. My money's on the latter.

Sleep paralysis. They can get worse.
I had one where I dreamed some viscous animal grabbed me by the back of my neck and was pulling me. Bloody scary because it feels real.

More likely to happen when you've been under stress or are sleeping somewhere unusual where you don't feel safe.

It's harmless.

I have two friends who have suffered from this.

One became a super reborn-again Christian, as he interpreted the pressure as demons holding him down, the other has also described the pressure thing, but ultimately nothing has happened to either of them.

In fact there are all sorts of mythologies of various supernatural creatures sitting on the chests of victims of sleep paralysis/terror and squeezing the life out of them.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! :D

Oh man that literally brought a tear to my eye!

rational respondent: "You have sleep paralysis. It is quite common."
OP: "My soul is leaving my body and hasn't come back yet... because my soul is the part that allows my brain to move my body"

:D

Oh man I'm still chuckling.

I have a different experience from time to time... but I can understand the "bone breaking pressure".

Sleep paralysis... yes... but you're also hyper-sensitive at the same time. the bone breaking pressure you feel is actually a sort of transferred anxiety from not being able to move your muscles... your brain wants to... but the motor functions are all "asleep" it tries to re-route nerve function just like when there's serious brain injury. The "heaviness" is confused sensation resulting from your brain receiving conflicting neural feedback. Kinda like seasickness, vertigo or pins and needles.

I get a weird form of vertigo when it happens to me... its almost pleasant... like i'm flying/falling. almost as if i'm being pressed THROUGH the bed and into some weird zero-gravity type vibe.

Trick is to relax and not freak out... you know what's happening so just chill... it actually becomes quite pleasant.

Some people have been able to control this phenomenon through meditation... state of zen and all that... very interesting stuff.
Main thing is... it's not serious or life threatening so just relax...

Now that makes me think. Has anyone's house been broken into while this is happening to them?

Hmmm... chicken and egg?
Were you paralyzed coz you were pooping yourself... or were you paralyzed... someone knew this and broke into your house... and then pooped yourself?

I know someone who was asleep and someone chucked a garden pick through their window to grab a phone that was on his desk.
Guy said he was frozen for several seconds after getting the fright of his life!
