DST, Microsoft partner in fast-tracking development

The Department of Science and Technology and Microsoft South Africa today signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will see the two fast-tracking high-performance computing, human capital and enterprise development.

It's just normal indoctrination into the MS way.

MS actually gains from piracy like you can't believe. If they really wanted to they could make their products so much more pirate proof but it's not in their best interest. If they did OSS operating systems & software would reign supreme.

Which Very few of the top supercomputers in the world actually run. Linux kinda pwns everything else when it comes to supercomputers.

Many of the top supercomputers may not use that OS, but I think a fair number of "commodity" hpc setups do... simply because it integrates into their existing environment pretty well (I would assume)
