OK, so I'm getting married next weekend, and I'm thinking of doing a song on my acoustic guitar to my wife at the end of my speech. Thing is, I am kinda nervous for the speech, and I'm not sure exactly what to say, so I might as well sing a song which might break some ice - I'm going to be nervous anyways. I can play some guitar, but I haven't sung in front of people before (except boys choir in primary school, but that's different, plus then my voice hasn't broken). I'm singing it to her, so it doesn't have to be nearly perfect, because I know she will love it, it is a song we both like very much with some really nice words for the occasion, but I'm just scared that maybe my singing sucks really bad. I know I can keep note quite well, but worrying about the tone because my voice sounds a lot lower than most songs I try to do, but singing an octave higher I kinda need to sing through my throat. I will probably plug the guitar in and sing over a mic.....Do you think it is corny for the guests, or doesn't that matter? I don't need to sound good, I just dont want to suck so much that people are feeling embarassed for my part. I'm thinking of going for a quick lesson next week just to see if its a good idea or not. Do you guys think I should do it, or would you do it if you could play guitar and keep note?

F what the guests think. You're paying for their meals, they have to sit there, shut up and take it!

Your wife will cry yeti tears!

^^ This!

So yeah, If I had those skills, I'd definitely make use of the opportunity!!

Dude I am sure you are coughing up more than R100K for this wedding so do whatever you want for the new wifey even if you end up loking like a chump to your buddies the wife will be over the moon and at the end of the day she is the one you going to bed with that night and I am sure you will be WELL rewarded for your serenade :p

Oh by the way MAZELTOV on the pending naptuals I hope everything goes smoothly :D

Dude it was R85k three weeks ago, but yes, reached the 100 mark now. Rediculous, and that is with the original budget (which was R80k). Think I'm going to go for a vocal lesson just for an expert opinion. Average kareoke is ok by me. For some reason I want to do it. I actually went and bought a guitar today, as I only have an electric.

I doubt that she's going to worry too much about how good/bad you sound - the idea will count A LOT.

Friendly advise - make sure that you sing over a sound system before trying it live. It's quite a shock to hear yourself on a sound system the first time! You don't want that novelty to be added to the stress. :-)

Yea, what they all said.. Just make sure you dont choke up during it..

Fortunately I have blocked out the memory of the horror that was my wedding speech. I was a nervous wreck, and I don't do well in front of people as it is. Thank god I didn't have the wedding video recorded, I don't think I could stand having to watch myself being a complete drooling idiot again.

Big ups to you having the balls to want to sing for your wife. If I were to do it again, now - I would give it a try. But back then... oy... :rolleyes:

//Imagines The wedding Singer...

Do you know BrideZilla? if this is not what she wants she is going to drag this cow out for years to come.

You are sure You will not face the hell fire and damnation if you do this?

I would thread lightly. THis is the R100 000 dream wedding she has been planing since she was 3.

Yeah, i agree actually. Whilst it sounds like a cool thing to do, i would think long and hard about this
