Actually a friend of mine recently told me that he got an email from a film studio(think it was Time-Warner) about downloading their movies illegally....digital **** has hit the fan...
Nope that happens often, they have no jurisdiction in South Africa yet.

No it hasn't. They have no jurisdiction here. a) they were a seeder on the torrent he downloaded and thus when he downloaded from them they tracked his IP and reported him to his ISP - ignore it b) if you don't want to be harassed like this in the future then simply install peerblock...
It's nothing to worry about.

There are also privacy laws in SA, which means the ISP cannot look at what data you are transferring without a court order. Ironically how would you get a court order without proof?
So if you get an email from your ISP remind them of that. They will then say they didn't look at your data they were simply notified of this by an outside organisation in which case I would ask them how they can send me threats without proof.
