Got a pair when they became available at the start of April and have done about 310km with them so far. My average is about 30km a week, weight was 95kg and is now 85kg and will probably go down to about 80kg in July. With this usage in mind what kind of mileage can I expect from these shoes? I only run tarmac - no offroad or trail running. Apparently these are one of the better running shoes since they have been in existence since 1983 and I do find they are very comfortable. I'm just worried about when that will "run out" and I should be thinking of a new pair.

3000 to 5000 miles on a standard road
2000 to 4000 miles on a rocky road
40000-50000 miles when jumping on a treadmill

Damn, and there I was hoping for 5001 miles on standard road. Guess I'll take Asics next time.

Nah, just got tired of out driving VWs with my Opels, so now I out run them with my Nikes.

That was what I thought yes, every 500miles, but I have read in a few places now that the Pegasus range does not last as long as something like Asics Gel. I do need to get another pair because this one is clocking up a lot of distance lately so the choice is now between another pair of Pegasus 28s or the slightly more expensive Asics Gel ones.

Well if your Nike's are working fine, and you haven't had any injuries then stick with a new pair of Nikes. I had 3 pairs of New Balance in a row and then I changed to Asics and stuff just didn't go well, so now I'm back with New Balance. Stick with a shoe that works for you :) Maybe I'm just paranoid though, at school I overtrained and developed stress fractures so I'm quite worried about injuries and what not.

If you aren't worried about that and you are going to get more bang for your buck from the Asics then get a pair of them.

I started out on New Balance 400s which were for very light usage, at the time I only started running so I thought they would be OK. Also I was very noob and had no idea about pronation and injuries so needless to say I ended up with shin splints and later worked out that the shoes were done for. That's when I got the Nikes and they are like heaven, but I'm not too tied to a brand and I guess I'll take a risk and see how the Asics work for me.

Thanks, I think I have now convinced my self to go get that pair of Ascis
BTW - anyone else here that uses SportsTracker ?
