Telkom’s ‘consumer-centric approach’ just another empty promise?

Consumer centric approach =

LOWERING PRICES.

Put your money where your mouth is Papi. Believe me, you will get a HUGE positive response if you indeed do just this. And I'm not talking 10-15% either. I'm talking stop ripping ISP's off and drop the ADSL line rentals so that ISPs can make money from ADSL and joe soap can afford it. You won't know what hit you and you will have to create new jobs since you will be so busy. It's a win-win. The economic scale will ensure that you will still be able to make a huge profit... Just think about it... people shouting WE LOVE TELKOM on this board....
but then again it's not April now is it?

There is only ONE way Telkom will ever save face with the public... RADICALLY drop prices.

The way I see it, Telkom thinks they got it made. I mean they have locked their customers into 2 year contracts. all well and good, however my lawyerly wife argues that those will be VERY easy to get out of if the companies really want out of them.

Telkom needs to take a good look at their current business model as if they do not do something drastic soon, then I forsee a LOT of business going away from their offices.

It is the same as the movie houses. Prices got ridiculous, I mean R30 for a single ticket. As soon as they dropped prices on tuesdays etc, more and more people are going to the movies nowadays. It just goes to show. I mean would you prefer to sell 100 tickets at R100 each or would you prefer to sell 100 000 tickets at R10 a piece????

Seriously - they have answered my 5 last calls on the second ring [est time = 30 seconds including the menu's] 10219 -2 -2 [DSL].

Of course - the order that I am checking on that was supposed to take 48 hours last week monday has not been done yet.

But - call pickup time is faster - or - there are one heck of a lot less calls now ...
Probablee the latter.

re:edrobinson

Constructive criticism is always better than hot air....
All this talk of a move to the sno but what people don't realise is that we'll still really only have Telkom as the home dsl line provider for a long time to come.....

LOL Stoke! Telkom's idea of customer centricity is the ability to tell customers to stuff off in half the time... ;)

I think the current ISP's should be giving access to the local loop, let everyone have a go at being an independant ISP as possible. Let the guys who've been fighting for a piece of the market for so long, who've given us an alternative to Telkom, have their chance. Then see if they can hack it and if they can, to ensure they dont incurr massive losses there would have to be some fancy footwork from Telkom to make sure they survive the next 5-10 years.

I've also noticed call pick up being a lot faster, but that doesnt help if the upgrade of my adsl line which according to them is supposed to take 5 days, has still not happened.. They still suck

Thought as well... if there's a will, then there is a way.

Especially with the piggy that went to market to shop for lower prices... :D

This is probably it...

This looks like the only real solution... but they are probably too scared to compete in the service arena since most of their income has never been earned... hence their kicking and screaming to be the only one.

Conned by Papi

RPM was conned by sweet. talking Papi and started singing his praises. Ask the folk at Transnet, the man is a " smooth talker" supreme and does not put an even 1hour collective time at work per day.
Admit it RPM. But then I understand that we had to hold on to any hope that things will change at Telkom. NOTHING HAS CHANGED, INFACT THINGS HAVE GOTTEN WORSE BECAUSE CORRUPTION HAS NOW SET IN

Eish, people, you don't get it. Telkom never wanted to be consumer centric; they purchased a software package to do the job the call centers cannot do. The software package has a logo or catch phrase that TELKOM borrowed as part of the new so called drive. They thought a bot would do what they cannot do. Was TELKOM ever original in any idea? NOT ever. No, I am wrong, at least they thought out the per gig billing system or stole the idea from cell company’s and applied it to ADSL sh@tband. They always ride on someone else’s laurels and make it out to be high technology or an original concept.

Telkoms consumer approach ends after whoever at telkom mutters it.

You guys make me laugh. You just dont get it. Nothing will change at all when the SNO finally comes on board. The gvt own a large portion of Telkom so if they wanted the prices to drop then they would.
Its the same thing as MTN, Vodacom and Cell C. What competition is there in terms of subs and pricing of contracts ? Not much.
We can bitch and moan on this website all day but in reality i doubt anything will change until this corrupt gvt rots away.

Telkom's Consumer centric approach = Giving you the customer an extra dollop of vaseline so they can keep on shafting you
