I asked for test server, case 1940236. Ip test 41.203.5.148 somewhere in SA, and they gave me a USA 184.82.227.152. Ping slower than my UK server. What the F

It looks like very impressive pricing. The bandwidth is R2 000 for a extra 2tb while you get 1tb included for R79. Why the hell is the extra bandwidth so expensive. I would rather buy like 6 R79 vps and get 6TB for R474 than to pay 2k for a extra 2tb.

Very impressive pricing if your bandwith is 1TB or less.

I am sure there must be more to this story. It looks like they might have made a mistake in giving you a US server where you requested a SA server. Did you tell them this and what did they say when you did report it to them?

I doubt it can be that. Price is R79 for 1TB bandwiddth right. That means it can't be in SA.

I think he is comparing is ping from SA to UK and SA to US. Its that or I don't have a idea what he is saying.

Before opening the account I was given a test SA IP to do latency tests.

I closed the account and they promised a refund only at the end of the month. Its not about the money, but the principle companies just dont care about customer service.

So here goes, I will point to you all some special rates, bypassing the SA man.

I have a server from one of these specials in UK for +- R50 a month, 20GB disk, 200GB + 512XEN 8 cpu. Beter deals are available from US.

The ping times are around 250ms, just to slow to do continuously software development from. I wanted UK for better SA hosting, but found the latency is real annoying when typing. OK for hosting.

Have now a smaller VPS located in major SA data center just being used for development work. Much happier now ping times +-80ms.

But why are you trying to develop over a link or am I just not understanding it correctly. You should be developing locally (ie on your PC) and then when development is done upload to the remote site.

Unfortunately I cannot define local, as we travel between sites and need a central human less access point. Having a small dev server hosted month to month close by makes business sense at +- R800 per year. Also needed is 2 way traffic, where VC and CC have unrestricted APN’s, but cannot rely on this as its not always working.

I hope the links helps some of you that want to manage your own Linux box. +1 to them. Also use them :) Support sometimes isn't that great and unresponsive, but good pricing on the linux ones.
