GTX580 or CF 6950 or SLI GTX560TI

CF HD6950 gives the highest FPS
Then SLI GTX560Ti
Then GTX580

This I know. But "driver issues" and game support wise?

6970 crossfire or a 6990

Okay, maybe I should have said this: All 3 of these configs I can get for about R4k.

MSI GTX 580 Twin Frozr OC
XFX 6950 x2
Asus GTX 560Ti DirectCU II x2

Nvidia will obv give you less hassles with SLI (but they have had two major f-ups with drivers lately that destroyed cards)
AMD will (monthly iirc) give updates to CF profiles, until then there are workarounds. Otherwise you basically sit with one card

So its 50/50 for me between the 560Ti and 6950. As I said, nvidia will give less hassles when they work, AMD you have to wait a bit for it to work

GTX580 lags 15% behind the 560Ti SLI, and 25% behind the 6950 CF, so I wouldnt consider that

Something else I didn't mention. :erm:

I will be getting SB, so mobo will be 8x/8x only...

At this point, I would like Nvidia more than AMD, even though I like AMD's drive update frequency more...

Hmmmm...
Very rough guesstimate = 5% drop in performance due to x8/x8 lanes on the GTX560Ti. Probably even less. 6950 will suffer more, but again, very rough guesstimate = a few more % fps drop
so basically the duel card setups will quite likely still beat the single GTX580

If I was willing to spend that much on a setup, then I won't even bother with taking the risk of flashing the HD6950.

The risk is tiny if flashing is done properly. The card comes with a switch for 2 bios(es?), so you can update 1 bios and if something stuffs up you just switch to the other bios that works. The card is built for playing around with :) Having said that I haven't flashed my 6950 yet.

The hardware will last much shorter. The 6950 was not designed to dissipate all the energy wasted by the bios update. Some people are starting to report card failures due to the flash...

I currently run 6950 CF and they are insane I get 10800 in 3Dmark11, you can not go wrong with these cards.

Also Sharkbait at the Price Atiboy sells a set for you know its worth it!

well with the latest esquire pricing specials, get 580 sli ~ R6600!! you know you want to!!

GTX 580 for sure if you running a single monitor. It overclocks so easily.. Mines at 900/2100 with a very slight voltage bump max temp is 73 on the stock cooler running witcher 2.
