I am at a LOSS for words :mad:

Sacramento, California - Sacramento police arrested a 29-year-old mother on Tuesday after an investigation found her baby likely died from burns suffered in a microwave oven.

Ka Yang was being held without bail in Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of murder and assault resulting in the death of a child.

She was arrested three months after her otherwise healthy six-week-old daughter, Mirabelle Thao-Lo, was found dead in the family home on March 17.

Police described the child as suffering “extensive thermal injuries”. Officer Laura Peck said the arrest took so long because investigators had to pinpoint what they believe is the cause of death by looking for other cases involving similar injuries.

They found three in the US, all after children were burned in a microwave: in Dayton, Ohio; Galveston, Texas; and New Kent County, Virginia.

In SA we throw babies into pit toilets and in the USA they microwave them - something seriously wrong with certain people...

There's a hell of a lot of suffering and cold blooded killing going on in this world.

It is a shame that our civilisation has such fine technology and scientific knowledge,
and yet the majority of people on the planet are foolish, greedy, selfish, and
often uncaring, then you get to the minority of psychopathic mutants who are malicious,
cruel, cold killers and rapists.

There's far too much maliciousness and warmongering on our planet

Sterilise all criminals

Sterilisation of all criminals is a win-win scenario:

- criminals can not have children (would have had to be supported by the tax paid by law abiding citizens)
- criminal traits are nookied out of the world population gene pool in the long term

Yeah, sorry, I was being a bit obtuse.

I think what I am trying to get at is...

I see articles like this on MyBB, or stories about people torturing an animal or the like, and the reactions of people are so strong and outraged.

But stories about houses full of kids getting blown up in some 'brown person country' or unmanned drones accidentally shooting up innocent people are all but ignored, except by people who generally just want to argue political issues.

I understand what you say about it being personal, but I actually think that it's more important for people to have a more broad perspective, which is that death is final, no matter if it's a baby in a modern microwave, or a bullet shredding a child simply because they were born in the wrong place.

All the outrage is better aimed at events still to come and currently ongoing, rather than one deranged woman who killed her kid.

It is of course, still an awful thing.

The problem with sterilisation is the possibility that someone could have been wrongly convicted.

The thing is, who sterilizes them? Who makes the decisions?

I'd have to oppose such a thing on the same grounds I oppose the death-penalty (well, one of the reasons); I simply do not trust the authorities with such a responsibility.

I think, honestly, the only way to 'fix' criminality in any meaningful way is to completely overhaul our societal systems, in such a major way, I think we'd need a planet-wide catastrophe first.

Hopefully that's just my cynicism speaking, and there is a slightly less cataclysmic solution.
