Need new speakers price range R400-R700

Suggestions? It's for my GF mainly, I spend alot of my time with her so they need to be decent.

I havnt been following sound tech so im quite lost, im using Logitec Z5500s :P (won them in a comp)

Soo ive been looking at anything between this and this

Go with Microlab...they have some seriously nice quality speakers and the price is right. I've got these speakers and I'm so impressed with the sound quality.

I watch movies and series on my pc a lot and when I got a multimedia player I tried watching the same stuff on tv and I went straight back to watching on my pc just because the sound quality is that great.
 
Hmm, things I would suggest are mostly right at the top end of the price range, or over.

For Home Entertainment-type setup - Logitech X-530/Z-506 best 5.1 <R1000 imo.

For music, full range stereo speakers are easily the best, avoids the frequency gap that 5.1/2.1 at this price range usually have between tweeters and bass, but mostly expensive. You can get multi-driver stereo systems (tweeter, mid, bass drivers in one unit) for less that avoid the frequency gap, though - Krator N2-20050 seem decent, but I don't really know the brand. With this type of setup you'll usually have less bass than having a dedicated bass speaker, but unless your GF is into heavy electronic music it probably won't matter.

Regarding the Z-323, I have heard that they are pretty mediocre (well they are cheap), and that the Z-523 is far better.

Finally, in the price range, I think that these Creative speakers are supposed to be better than the ones you linked.
 
Always have a provision of 10% of your original budget. So this creative T6200 are nice. I'm buying them as soon as I have enough cash. Logitech's have good sound, but are mostly ugly IMO.

I'm with u wrt aesthetics of Logitech speakers aren't that great looking, the Z506's are quite sexy and within R700, but everywhere I look people recon the X-540s are better, but they are nowhere to be seen. Looks does matter to me I guess, since im buying these for my GF

X-540's are basically X-530's with corded-remote and 'matrix' 2 channel upmixing. They are unfortunately EOL. Sound quality is supposedly identical. I also think the X-530's look a bit better. I have the X-540's and they are all box-shaped and angled, whereas the X-530's are softer and rounded. The X-530's don't seem to have speaker grills though.
 
2.1 = Logitech Z523 / if you an get them, Logitech Z-4

5.1 = Logitech X-530, same speakers/sound as Logitech X-540 which are end of life

That said, Logitech's new range speakers are not as good as the older range.
