Possibly that's the reason, all I know is that I've managed to blog from here with extremely limited connectivity. Prior to getting a spot with broadband, I'd write my blogs offline, head to a coffee shop or pub or net cafe with wireless and upload it.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

It's more to do with computer literacy than anything else.
These days, millions in South Africa could afford an hour a week in a net cafe to post their ramblings, which leads to the true story.

Most can't be bothered as it doesn't interest them or they don't have a clue what it is.

I've been an M&G blogger for almost a year now, but there's only a tiny regular membership.

My Blog takes the simplest form - an online diary.

If you analyse Blogging, however, you'll find there's very little about it that wasn't being done in the early days of the web on peoples personal websites. I actually started blogging in 1997, except it wasn't called that back then. (http://www.planetquake.com/qpp/oldnews.htm)

Blogs have just made it easier and in a way, have taken over from the old days of Geocities and Tripod. The main difference is the addition of data sorting and the ability to make comments.

Yawn... Blogs _are_ the Internet. The Internet are blogs. People create the content on the internet, not machines. Anyone with a personal website has been writing a blog for all these years. Nothing new about that. Someone just invented a new word for it, and now it's receiving the same "hype" as ipods, and other techno-gadgets. Technically, I'm blogging on this forum every day.

The fact is that blogging is a personal expression. It's not a money making industry. If you're a good reporter/writer, then your blog is good, because your writing is good.

Otherwise it's just part of the white noise...
 
Blogs are like VOIP...........Nothing new, been around for a long time, just got a name now.

Agreed. Guess it just is an easier way to create and maintain a website which means that many more people do it than they used to do. Other than that, a blog is just a personal website.
