iPads, guns, and grenades for Singapore soldiers

Troops can use the iPad’s built-in camera to take photos and video clips in the field which can be uploaded to the SAF’s online platform, LEARNet. Soldiers can use these photos and videos to carry out post-mission assessments, the newspaper said.
with that tiny camera? LOL

If I was the the singapore Army I would be very worried about Angry Birds destroying the morale of the fighters.....

I think its a clever recruitment strategy.
Can't afford an iPad, join now and get one free.

Lol, yeah I'm sure when you're when the bullets are flying around your head, you're fighting for your life and your best friend has just been blown to smithereens, covering your whole face in entrails you often wish you had a giant cellphone with you. Now that could really save some lives.

This is just silly, what possible use can soldiers have for such toys? If you want to take pictures, use a proper camera. In fact even a cheap cellphone has a better camera than that puny less-than-1 Megapixel joke.

ah come now boys, do we really want to put down Singapore...they are light years ahead of us in many ways...we can't even get a drop of data to the bulk of our population, let alone expect them to know how to use it...iPad is an excellent communication/education/absorption device...I think its a brilliant idea...definitely a step in the right direction.

at least we know what a decent camera is... I can just imagine the debriefing, "is it a bird? is it a plane?"

Gimmick. And android device would have been a better idea...much easier to roll out a custom app for whatever they need.

If you run out of ammo, you can use an app from the app store to make shooting sounds to scare off the enemy :p

well ignoring the fact that it has to be approved by Jobs Almighty, what proof do you have?
You can distribute apps outside the store actually, and the proof I have is my own experience with the two.
