I think these guys (all the sp's) should quit blowing their own trumpet and ask subscribers for their opinion for a change. I think they're too scared to.

Owned 50% by telscum - I don't think so. Vodacom is just another corporate ravenous beast - all they want is my wallet.

"Caring Company" - is one label we do not seem to be able to hang on any company in SA -. All corporate dogs raping Africa - one of (the?) poorest continents in the world - If india can do it - why can't we?

when they actually care about south africans, I will listen, but their prices are the true reflection of their intentions.

Always amazed how successful people and companies are shot down.

Here's an idea: Post how successful your own company is (if you're not a disgruntled employee that does nothing but gripe), how much money you made and how much of that profit you gave back to your customers, i.e. how you run your company as a charity.

Then by all means attack companies like Vodacom, who consistently on MyADSL get high customer satisfaction ratings. EdRobinson, maybe you should vote in these polls.

Or tell us how you give all profit you make (your salary) to this poor continent, surely you're not raping it as well? Do you really need that nice house, that fancy car? Sell the house and rent a small apartment, sell you car and use public transport. Now give every cent you earn to charity, the continent needs it, remember?

Successful companies? There's an oligopoly wrt mobile operators and a monopoly wrt fixed line communications - they dont deserve to be treated with kid gloves.

Compare their profits to international standards and they're excessive.

yes neo in an open market with full competition by all means congratulate them. when there's only 3 licensed cell operators and 1 fixed line monopoly, do you have any choice except succeeding? the reason they won't lower tariffs is because there's no threat of full-scale competition - all 3 are quite content to simply sit back and let the cash flow in. and you call that success? now that their towers are no longer dependant on telkom to be connected to each other, why aren't consumers seeing the benefit of this? why are they so hesitant in revealing their cost and markup to the public?

calls that terminate on the same network cost next to nothing. why do you think operators overseas are able to offer free calls to customers terminating on the same network? this is like telkom bragging about their earnings, but when people are faced with next to no choice, how can you not make money?

I rent a small apartment and have a small car - lots of this thanks to telscum. And I support charity (I will seldom say no -)

There is a difference between 'fair profit' - and rape, pillage and plunder - which is what telscum and voda etal are doing - they are just following the bully boy - in fact in vodas case they are blood brothers with the bully boy.

Ever heard the quote 'caring company' - stalinest capitalism died at the end of the 80's - SA companies need to move into the 21st century - last time I looked it was 2006 - not 1906.
