hi there guys.

So I am using a mates xbox for a couple of days and when trying to connect to live, it stops at ip settings, as in saying that my router cant give out ip addresses. Now my router is in dhcp mode and the scope is 100-200. This is the only device connected to it. When I set the IP address for the xbox maually, it gets a failed message saying that the dns servers cant resolve xbox live. I have manually configured those now too, and the same error comes up. And they are the same dns addies that are in my ipconfig /all list.

I have tried every possible thing to try and connect this monster. It connects to the network, but fails at the internet. Yet my xpox cant see my pc, and visa versa in the network map.

Has anyone had this same problem, or know of a solution?

I have a tp-link w8960n.

I cant use wireless because it interferes with the signal for the dual view. Bleh

Ok, update.

No settings have been changed......booted up xbox and it connects to the network, then internet, but not to live. Even when I go to recover gamertag, it connects saying there is an update available for the xbox, but as soon as I start downloading, it says failed. This is seriously getting to me now.

Also, when I try and connect to media centre it says that there is no pc on the network ( this is on my xbox) But when I see the devices in streaming options for the network on my pc, the xbox is listed.

Also I have forwarded the ports 88, 3074 tcp/udp.

Is this the right forum to post in, or should I ask a mod to move it to the xbox forum?

[-]Try opening ports on the router required for Live.[/-]

edit: nvm, saw you have already tried this. Try put the IP of the XBOX into the dmz setting on the router.
