The Noob Tube

Have you moaned about or at least scowled at the noob tubers running around on BF2? Been blown away by a single tube grenade? Most victims consider this particular end to be quite unsporting.
The mind says, “damn I didn’t get a chance to shoot back”.
The subconscious says, “that’s unfair”.
The face says, “disappointed”.
What you really wanted was to die with flair. Smoking barrel, ammo clips empty, armour on fire, holes in your helmet, bits gone from your ears, eyebrows singed off and face blackened by muzzle flash and knife stuck in the opponents thigh. That’s the way to go! That’s how a furious fight ends. Instead you are neatly removed from play with a single directed shot :sob:

Once I’d figured out that the noob tube is not the AT rocket, I decided to try my hand at it. What can I say? Have to give the noobers credit where it is due, it’s not as easy as it looks. Judging distances and trajectory takes practice and there is always the risk of coming ‘round a corner & finding an opponent in your face, CHOOONKBAM suicide kill. Reloading is verrrry slow especially when you’ve missed, seems to take an age. Downside for noober is that they have limited grenades and can be a hazard to their own squad. So what can you, the anti-noober do? I say don’t let the noobers get to you. Shoot them first :D

A good squad should have 1 assault, 2 medics, 1 supply, 2 anti - tank.

In urban maps you should switch the anti-tank with assault guys when required.
Assault is part of the strategy and it is not to be taken lightly, and the assault rifle [not grenade mode] is extremely deadly as well.

There's one bloke who jumps - goes prone and noob tubes me like 30m away - SKILL !

i.e. Me seconds what Drusk says.

i use the noob tube very often, makes an excellent crowd control device!

easiest way to keep 8 people away from my flag!

" you get off my land boy!!!!!"

After reading some of the whining on SGS forums, I found that people REALLY detest being killed from close up with the grenade launcher - especially when the blast kills the launcher as well.

So I was annoying people with it yesterday - tho I survived most of the close encounters - which was probably even more annoying :D

After watching the first episode "over there" last night, and seeing the one bloke get gutted by what i can only presume was a toob, all i can say is, i want one ;-)

and you can throw flashbangs!

nothing more fun than sitting ontop of the tv station throwing flash's down, watching about 20 teameates and enemys running around, into walls , each other , etc etc etc

Guns n Poses
Place one foot well ahead of the other and spread your stance a bit, gotta make space for those large brass cahooneys. Relax knees slightly and support Walther PPK with both hands, bend arms at elbow. Now narrow your eyes and gaze into the distance ahead and to your right. You should see a crowd of gorgeous women that love you. Why all the effort? Well, besides the women, your cutting figure should by now bear striking resemblance to that of our friend Bondjamesbond007 (007 not a kill ratio). It is only logical then that aping the spy pose will improve your accuracy in BF2. Not? Perhaps but there is something about that pose :D

Weapons accuracy in BF2 depends on range, pose and fire rate. The rock, paper scissors rules are:
  1. ranged combat: mannikin1 prone, firing quick but controlled shots or bursts, beats mannikin2, prone, firing uncontrolled burst.
  2. close quarter combat: mannikin1 standing, firing uncontrolled burst, beats mannikin2 standing, firing controlled shots, bursts.
  3. manikin that finds target first and fires first stands the best chance of surviving.

1 & 2 are points on opposite ends of a scale where optimums exist for different weapon types and pose; only practise and observation will yield the best results. Of course there are exceptions to 2. For example, playing support, you end up in close quarter combat with another kit with automatic weapon. Both fire uncontrolled, continuous burst while standing, more often than not you lose. Support is hopelessly inaccurate in any pose but prone. If you’d rather not waste online time experimenting then a nice way to gauge a weapons pros and cons is to fire it at a wall while assuming different positions. Your aim is to get the most lead into the smallest space possible as quickly as possible for any particular simulated situation.

Point 3 is mostly absolute unless you score a lucky hit while firing before locating the threat. In close combat, 3 is essential. Often you’ll run around a corner and catch a glimpse of the opposition heading the other way. If you’re not smart you’ll start spinning around like a hippy trying to get sights on the enemy. If you’re smart you’ll change direction immediately before turning and trying to locate the foe while backing away. I find that getting too close in a firefight turns survival into a random exercise.

All of this is stuff we know. Simple. However I for one don’t always remember or bother to think like this while playing but when I do it helps.

How about some tips on knife fighting? Someone? Anyone? The number of times I get knifed while I've got my piece in my hands is infuriating. There's definitely something to it.

Knife diver while you're prone.

Don't panick - one shot to the head will kill knife diver. The trick is to shoot when his head crosses your sights - which will invariably not be pointing on the ground, but instead a little higher. Timing is everything, and sometimes you will be killed with him because of LAG, but it's better than dying alone. You may fire 2 shots before you're dead, 3 if you're really lucky - these shots must be one or 2 rounds only, any more and your accuracy will not work against a head so close to you.

Well - this worked for me 3 times ...

Shoot im in the head. Ja, I just gotta stay calm. I'd much rather knife the knifediver though.

Sure - press 1 - no - not 3 - 1 - no - not flippin 2 - 1 - no - not ~ - aaarg - stupid menu.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Step 1 : Remove finger from w key.
Step 2 : Look for number 1.
Step 3 : Too late.

LOL the fumble, major cause of death after the "I am invincible syndrome".
The Kill Ratio
I only play BF2 because of the kill ratio. Were it not for the kill ratio I would have gone back to thrilling XP Minesweeper long ago. During the initial BF2 addiction I played for the newness. The shiny, sparkly, newness, novel maps, weapons unlocks and the clever trrricks and turrrrns to be discovered. Being a good addict I went further than the game and ended up at BF2s.com. On BF2s.com the stats say I am a dead man. To me this is irksome. It simply means that my BF2 manikin would definitely be lying rotting somewhere on the dusty streets of Karkand given the one-chance only scenario. My kill ratio is less than one. Fails to be an integer. I die more than I kill :(

Of course secretly I know I am a hero of note, rescuing damsels in distress and sometimes the world; the current predicament is obviously unacceptable. How to score mega kills, how to make some genocide, how to fix that kill ratio so I can go back to minesweeper?

The most impressive way to rack a multikill (mk) seems to be by suicide effort. Trade one death for more than one kill. How many times have you stared in horror at fragments of the BH you were piloting falling like rain interspersed with noodle like teamies and the front half of a suijet. There is the suibuggy, it’s fairly common though and not good for an mk. I’ve gotta say though the suibuggy takes a bit more skill. Your chances of getting blown up before reaching the objective are high. bboy I recall manages to escape his death traps before detonation and survive. I need practise to pull that off. Come to think of it bboy could tell us how to mega score. I believe he got 240 something in the bosbvok tournament. Probably has a lot to do with armour and staying alive in that armour for as long as possible. 300 odd hours of practise might help too I s’pose ;) an excellent fragrate could also nudge things the right way.

How come no one plays SF much? The grappling hook is a beaut. I’d also like to try and shoot the zip line at someone too… smells like TK :D

lol... some people have taken BF2 as a way of life i see... ;)

you know.... i dont play that much.... and i spend most of my time stuffing around...... last night i was like last on every match ...... except that match where i found myself with the grr8 clan.... agaisnt the asault clan on oman.... with few odd extras on each side

.. we cleaned them up :)

then i played HARD , i played to win, i played to kill!
same as in the tournament.... i played to WIN!

other times you fill find me running through enemy uncapturable flags, leaving mines and claymores in funny place and hiding in the bushes for 10 minutes at a time..... just for fun!.... ending up with a crap score... but fun anyway!

anyway... due to moving offices... i will lose my adsl soon!
i'm not sure if i am going to reapply for it!

why?
EDIT: ok i missed his previous post woops
