Logged into Gmail this morning and there is a big warning in red saying that my account has been accessed from China.

I have changed my password and made sure no forwarders have been enabled etc etc.

How the heck does this even happen?

Anyone seen this before?

at the bottom of gmail there's a link where you can see recent IP access.

Change you password, activate sms request for password change.

You're not the first nor the last...

... Had the same with a friend of mine's account, his was just accessed from Spain. Painstakingly went through his PC for virus-ala-malware, could not find anything! ...in the end I saw this small little proxy app in his C drive that he used few weeks back

So yea, either a proxy program...or you used the same password on multiple websites and one of them recently got attacked...or there are spyware-ala-virus on your PC...or yea. Have a look at 2-step verification for your gmail if you want to.

Thanks guys. Have changed everything so hopefully thats enough.

Yeah it happens make sure you never list your email address especially gmail on any sites like business directories etc as they crawl these and then start the hacking

Yeah I am pretty sure I haven't listed it anywhere.

Happened to me a year ago...got a stronger password.

Mine was pretty strong, but have made it even stronger. I doubt it was guessed, must have been a brute force attack.
