How to treat mange in a dog

um, why did the dog get mange in the first place? as quoted from the web "The main cause of dog mange is the unhealthy environment the dogs live in. Mites are always on the prowl, waiting to strike dogs that are not given baths regularly.'

Im not sayng that you are fitlthy, but suggest you first look at the environment as well not only medcs.
 
I don't know if your dog is muzzle-able but if it is, muzzle it first. Apply the dip as directed. Make the whole experience as pleasant as possible. Simulate bathing routines a couple of times before doing it if necessary.

Mange is a terrible thing. I watch those animal rescue programs on DSTV regularly and mange is quite the problem. Mange is basically turning your dog's skin into a porous, bread-like, honeycomb mesh.

You sleep on a bed with a dog that has mange?

I'd use the shampoo man, I'd imagine the vet knows what they are doing.

What the hell is SSRI and MAOI?
 
I once had to take care of a squatter dog that had mange. I just used a strong general tics and fleas dip for large dogs I got from the vet not mange specific. Washed the dog properly once every 2 weeks and that did the trick but took a while. Washed the dog bedding the same time.

Sounds like you have never dipped. Remember you mix it with water so just decrease the ml per bucket of water if you are scared.
If you have to have the dog sleep with you then dip is not the answer due to the smell.
 
we had a dog with a serious ''mange problem''

my dad treated it with used car oil(gran's advise) coz the vet meds didn't work.

When the lab tests came back it turned out the poor thing was allergic to fishmeal(used in most dried & canned foods)

speak to your vet change to fish free food & it might clear up (it did better with the gross oil than meds, went away after a few weeks on ''clean food'')

the dogs food was pap with chuncky bones with the water the bones were semi boilt in pored over... & some special dry food

Mange = the scabies virus in humans

& if it is a virul & not other (bug or allergy reaction) then it is very contagous....
