Do not use on Chihauhaus.
For some reason I found this hilarious.
That dip will dissolve the dog.
This is only a very mild case of mange, not like the stuff on Animal Cops. She has only a few small bald spots on her body. The vet told me to only apply the dip to these bald spots.
One of the websites I read just now says that people who use SSRIs shouldn't administer Amitraz dips to dogs as Amitraz is a MAOI and can seriously interact with SSRIs if absorbed through the skin through direct contact.
Given it's a Chihauhau, then all the more reason to use the dip.
I cannot now condemn her to sleeping on the floor just because she has mange.
Mange = the scabies virus in humansIt's not contagious to humans or even to other dogs. The parasite can however infect the hair follicles on the eyelids and eyebrows of humans (without causing mange). This applies to all dog owners who have close physical contact with their dogs regardless whether the dog has mange.
Here you can see what her mange looks like. I have circled one of the bald spots.
Yes, she is a beautiful dog. When I take her to the vet each week, people say what a lovely dog and they stroke her and ask me what's wrong with her. When I tell them she has mange they stop stroking her.
But now I am armed with new information. Next time I will explain to them, ma'am/sir, you, like all people, have thousands of the demodex mite which causes mange living on your face right now.
I applied the dip to the bald spots on my dog yesterday morning.
How long do I need to wait before I can safely touch her again?
