Silent PSU

I'm looking for a very silent PSU, around 350-450W.
The intention is to use it on a Home theater PC, that's why it needs to be as silent as possible.
Any ideas and perhaps online shops where I can get one? Currently running an Odin 750 way too noisy.

Thanks nakedpeanut, but R1.5K is about the price of the Home Theater itself.
Something more affordable perhaps?
 
Cooler Master extreme is loooudddd.

Except for the Seasonic X400 and X460, Cooler Master Silent Pro is probably the best available cheaply in SA (and yeah not cheap).
 
I have the Coolermaster Extreme Power Plus 460W PSU (like bruce_the_loon posted) in my office PC and it is very quiet, but not silent as in passively cooled.

What is your HTPC's specs? The CM EPP 460W might not be able to handle your load, because it's max rated and not for continuous load.

Spending R800 on a PSU for an HTPC seems a bit overboard. I'd say go with the CX430 like PostmanPot suggested, because its a lot better than the CM EPP 460W, seeing that it has PFC & a better efficiency and it's not max rated either.
 
I've honestly never heard my PSU, and all of my fans are running on seriously low voltage..
 
If I could make one similar, slightly off-topic, request. My old Antec fusion case had two 120mm fans on the side which have since given up the ghost, I replaced them with "silent" no-name brands I bought from the local PC place but a) they aren't at all silent and b) they have green LEDs!! (something I found out only after installing them.

Any suggestions as to replacement fans?

1. Break the LEDs if they are accessible. Pliers etc. work. Or cut the wire if they are powered with a separate wire.

2. Get a fan controller to lower the voltage.

3. Or buy new fans, look for 120mm's @ ±1,000RPM, I second the TR X-Silent's.

I've got the 140mm version, so I expect the 120mm is just as good, though the downside is that they seem to have built-in resistors for 7v max, but they are good value if all you want is silent fans, and you should be able to find them at other places for around R55.

I will also recommend Zalman SF3 and F3 FDB fans, and both come with resistor cables to run at lower RPM, so you can use them full speed if you ever need to, though they are a fair bit more expensive.
 
I've got 2x140mm version but they on a fan controller. Never noticed a resistor? .

I assume it has one and you just can't see it, since on my box it says '7v of power usage' and the RPM is low at 900. It could be terrible Engrish, though, since I see it has 7v as the startup voltage. In any event, these fans run at 900/1000RPM on standard 12v fan connector, so you can't really make them go any faster.
 
Ya I think 7v is the start up voltage.. So at 12v they running full tilt at like ~1000rpm.. But very nice fans and move enough air.
