I've had my laptop for a year and thinking I'm smart and I don't need to read the manual of how to take care of the laptop and its battery, I recently realized that a laptop's battery must be used at least once a week so that it can last longer. My smart self thought that if I don't use the 6-cell Li-ion battery at all, it will last a lot longer. My battery has deteriorated so much that it used to last for about 6 hours after being fully charged, it now lasts a maximum of 2 hours. I always use my laptop at my place, there was no real need to use the battery. I used the battery a couple of times during load shedding.

It is possible to only buy a battery of a laptop? If so where? And how much do they cost on average in relation to a laptop?

If you're lucky you might still have a bit of the battery warranty left.

try these guys in Midrand, I've used them before and their prices are pretty good. You can search by brand and model number of your laptop http://www.deepbluemobile.co.za/

I've checked out their website briefly, will search for batteries that are compatible with my laptop. Thanks.

I actually bought an extended warranty of 2 years :), my contract says thought that the battery might not be covered under the warranty. I will pay Incredible Connection a visit requesting a new battery.
