On MTN 10GB is "Uncapped" and on VM 2.5GB is "Uncapped" (In the far away lands at least)...
Imagine the chaos this would cause with ADSL people...
Person: My internet is extremely slow!
ISP: Sorry - You've downloaded 20GB this month, so we're throttling you to a 64kb line
Person: WHAT?!?!?!
ISP: Yup - Now, if you want to use more data, you can buy a 50GB Cap! :D
Person: ... :wtf:
ISP: Yup - Now for a low low price of R5,499!
Person: ... But I thought I was on uncapped?!?!?!
ISP: Oh - You are! You were just abusing the service! You are still uncapped - Just at a lot slower speed! :D
Person: .... *Changes ISP

I wanna see how this will impact the smart phone sales, remember bb's still have their bis service which is the difference in other markets like the EMEA region. That said i don't think the cost will be too much but perception changes a lot of things.

Why is this important to us here in South Africa
Without knowing world trends, we have no benchmark. As much as it would be nice to set the standard, we are not, so at least we can see what we are missing out on. It drives us to open our mouths and push for improvements. I find it interesting that this has occured, as it shows the strain that is being put on even the greatest and largest ISP's.

It is also worth noting that many overseas ISP's are either discontinuing their uncapped services or introducing strict AUP's.

I seriously doubt that 99% of people go over 1GB on BIS... no streaming allowed seriously restricts your usage.

Perhaps they're looking at ways to increase income.
