Hi Guys,

so I'm involved with a company called Mygeni. Basically what our website does is allow users and brands to post content and share it with friends. But most importantly, using a proprietary algorithm, the site serves only relevant and credible content to users. So you can decide what interests you and the site will find the right content, posted by the right people and show it you in categories, easy to understand.

Now I'm not trying to advertise the site, I know this is post is a bit forward, but basically we are in open Alpha, close to Beta phase. And we'd really like to get more users and more content on the site to see how it handles the load and get important feedback.

If you're interested feel free to sign up on http://mygeni.org, it's quick and easy with Facebook Login.

Our goal is to democratize knowledge and create free information. No more relying on large corporations like CNN or FOX for your news, but get it from the users, get the stuff relevant to you and share it with your friends.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Mike

really? no one? I'd really like some feedback, especially on the UI and the concept overall!

not exactly, but in a way. There are posts by users, same as twitter yes. but Posts are not limited to 140 characters and can include anything from soundcloud.fm soundtracks, vimeo and youtube videos to photo albums, geotagged locations, etc.

The real benefit comes after that though, the posts are then targeted to interest categories, so if I post about google or Apple I will post it to tech or a similar interest. Now all my friends that have listed tech as an interest and depending on their keywords associated with tech and the type of friendship this will appear on their content stream in a certain position. One can set intimacy levels for friends, a friend can be tight, close or social, and when you publish content you can choose if you want everyone (public) or only certain friends to see it.

Also brands or users can create groups to aggregate content of certain topics and categorize it down further. These groups can be branded individually and used to create an easy way to browse content.

There's also a future revenue sharing scheme called Wishes (a virtual currency), you receive wishes for posting content and following that for hits on that content (effectively a share of the ad revenue of limited google ads). This isn't in operation yet as the site is still on Alpha phase but will be implemented once the site is fully developed. This will be paid out via Paypal most likely.

The point really is to democratize information, instead of relying on large news outlets for information the people post it themselves and you can view information relevant to you and posted by people you trust.

i would most definitely do a URL rewrite of some sorts for better SEO. Your URLS make me feel dirty.
