A developer friend - moving to Johannesburg - has asked if I can recommend a local recruitment agency.

The agency should [preferably] specialise in IT. They should also [preferably] cover both permanent & contract workers.

And, though he hasn't yet asked but certainly will (when the penny drops :) ), what are the best websites for IT positions ?

In a word: WOW !!

Many thanks - that list should have him off my back for ever ... :D
Pleasure. I'm just passing the love. I got the list from a friend a while back. It has helped me a lot so far :)

I'm kind of worried about his career choice... if you can't find websites and you're in I.T... *shiver*

If he's got a degree from a decent University it'll be as easy as falling out of a tree to get a new job.

IT skills are in serious demand.

i literally only used Pnet, uploaded my CV and got 8 calls in 1 day. Many many agencies use Pnet, and developers are highly sought after.

I used Rapha Career...got a few interviews and signed with one company...alls less that 4 days. I think the job wanted a degree...which I dont have, just a diploma....but I am busy with my degree part time. Experience is what counts...so ja, just tell him to apply even if he doesnt meet all the requirements..

Insource ICT
I've been to their offices twice and they never come back to you. I would get calls from 5 different people from this company.
Even Network recruitment has been bad. Communicate on other hand has been very helpful. I got a position through them.

Most of these agencies belong to ADvTECH

Started a new job this week, the Insource guys placed me, they were very helpful.

Don't know why they were bad for you. Just giving my opinion on good experience from them.

Everyone I studied with got jobs (BSc(CS/IT) from UP), many with 0 experience. In Pretoria/Centurion/Midrand/Johannesburg area.

Haven't heard of a single person who had a problem getting a job.

Also,

Something that i have used before, is linkedin.com

U get posts in IT groups relating to SA or just look for Personnel agencies on the site, link to them most of them are very eager to accept and then you can send
all of them a mail, stateing precisely what you're looking for and attach your CV.
