Telkom 1024 + IS Uncapped Business ADSL - most cost effective per Mb package in SA?

I'm not basing any of this on levels of service (that's been done http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=32845), I'm rather trying to compare who is the most cost effective (i.e. for my bank account).

My draft calculations were based on listed prices + VAT. For uncapped solution the max data transfers were calculated as follows: 20 days of 100% activity pm, contention ratios not factored in (I.e. theoretical maximums for 20 days each month)

By my calculations the most cost effective solution in SA is Telkom ADSL 1024 couple with IS Uncapped 1024K Business Bundle @ R0.0016 / Mb.

Suprisingly Sentech's 20Gb Mywireless ranks 3rd most cost effective @ R0.034 / Mb. (of course the experience is not comparable with above)

The worst being 56K dialup @ a minimum of R0.674 / Mb (plus the worst experience as well, no tests required ).

Guess what (of course you knew this ) Telkom's per Mb costs rank amongst the highest (based on 3Gb packages), even when compared to Vodacom & MTN.

Worst broadband package mix would be Telkom + IS Capped 2Gb ADSL @ a whopping R0.458 / Mb.

How about a "validated" price per mb comparitive study; service comparisons are good, except at the moment our biggest issue is affordability. What do you think?

One problem with the 2GIG IS, did you somehow factor in the 30gig local cap? Also, did you at all factor in the capped international speed(its not fast but ranges between 28k-64k speeds most of the time.

Agreed. I blew my cap on IS 3gb on the 3rd of this month, and have been using the capped international since then. Not great, but still around 2kB most of the time. Local is still cruising at around 50kB (and that on a 384 line).

so if what would it really cost for the socalled uncapped 1024 service, if its the "cheapest" here ?

Around R3k per month - including the line rental.
