Article: More than 5,000 foreign teachers in SA

My fiance is a teacher and I get it. It's a 4 year degree and after a couple of years in the field she still earns less than some call center agents.

If it wasn't for me I am pretty sure she would be doing something else by now. She loves teaching but how would she afford to live?

I get why they leave. Who wants to study for four years to be paid peanuts. I do not think you become a teacher and are then shocked about the conditions and schools. That is just your own ignorance.
What happened to the schools in Zimbabwe?

The pay for teachers is even worse in Zimbabwe. That is why those who can would rather teach here. Also, when I was in high school in 91 -92 our science and maths teachers were from Ghana. This is nothing new - people. South Africans don't want to teach especially in the outlying rural areas.
