A 71-year-old Johannesburg grandfather has told Eyewitness News how he won a firefight against three armed suspects in his backyard after the gunmen began shooting at him. “I was that angry I just came around the corner and they started shooting. I was so angry that if I had a club I would have stormed them anyway,” he said. The trio was attempting to break into Nic Rossouw's Honeydew townhouse in the early hours of Monday morning. The retired businessman shot two of them and the third suspect was arrested.
Rossouw said his neighbour called him to tell him three men were on his property. The man grabbed his firearm and went to investigate. “... My vision is good, not brilliant, but good enough to see what I wanted to see.” The suspects missed him eleven times while Rossouw fired just three bullets and was on target twice. The grandfather of six said he responded in anger because he and his wife have suffered four break-ins in the last six weeks.

Just shows the power of a weapon in well trained hands :) Kinda makes the case for a highly regulated, but fair gun system where if you train properly and can prove competance owning a gun should not be a problem for self defence purposes

Just hope he doesn't get jailed for self defence, seen many who have been put in jail for killing people with self defence or hurting them badly.

Since they opened fire on him it's a shut case. Nothing can be done to him. If he shot them and they where armed with screwdrivers or knives then he would
have had allot of explaining to do. But as it stands, there won't even be an investigation.

He won't. Clear cut case of self defense.

Go gunownership. Imagine he was not allowed to keep a firearm himself.
