Cape Town - A British judge on Wednesday ruled that Shrien Dewani should be extradited to South Africa to face charges for his wife’s murder.

District Judge Howard Riddle said that Dewani can be extradited, pending approval from the UK’s home secretary.

Riddle said that “only by going to stand trial can Dewani be acquitted & clear his name. That may improve his mental illness”.

The court was packed with a large media contingent, many of whom came from South Africa, as well as family of the accused and the deceased.

Dewani is accused of having his 28-year-old wife of just two weeks murdered in a hijacking while the couple were on honeymoon in Cape Town in November 2010. The Bristol businessman denies the charges.

Riddle looked into Dewani’s mental state, evidence presented about South African prisons, amongst other matters.

His bum is going to be a-hurtin! But thats what you get for murdering your wife.

I guess the fact that right across Polsmoor is some of the most expensive property in this country will not help his mental illness.

Actually he will probably be out on bail until the conclusion of his trial. Presumption of innocence until found guilty and all that...

Poolsmoor....good lord. That place makes Riddick's stint on Crematoria look like a walk through a day care centre. He's gonna wish he wasn't born.

From the rumours flying around I don't think he is a bum virgin in any event.

Good news that the guys is coming back to face the music.

My own pathetic little private opinion is that he's innocent until proven guilty. Admission: I just don't know enough to make a judgment now.

Unfortunately he's not going to Polsmoor, our authorities guaranteed England he will be sent to a "better" facility
