Malelane - Eleven villagers accused of setting a pastor alight after accusing him of using a magic penis to sleep with women still don't know whether they'll face trial or not.

This comes after their case was once again postponed in the Boschfontein periodical court on Thursday.

“We are still waiting for the Director of Public Prosecutions to decide if the case is ready for trial, but, as the police, we are done with all the investigations,” provincial police spokesperson Hlathi told African Eye News Service (Aens).

Initially, 12 villagers, aged between 28 and 50, were arrested in February after Albert Malwane, a pastor of the Izwi Zion Christian Church in Jeppes Reef outside Malalane, was burnt to death a day before.

One of them, Sunnyboy Mthalala, died on May 16 after complaining of painful and swollen feet. He also vomited blood.

Villagers told Aens that when Malwane was buried, his family placed a curse on those responsible for his death.

Malwane's father, Timothy Malwane, confirmed that a curse was released at the pastor’s funeral to haunt his son's killers.

Malwane was dragged from his one-roomed house in the Etitandini informal settlement near Jeppes Reef south of Malalane and taken to a hill, where he was set alight.

Malwane's house was also burnt and his wife and daughter went into hiding.

Community members had accused him of talking to animals and using an invisible penis to sleep with women in the informal settlement.

They also accused his wife of turning into a snail and terrorising the community.

:D ?

 ?

This is quite old...

The point of the article is to illustrate that the entire court case is waiting on the DPP to determine whether or not it will go to trial.

Fact is yes, this is quite old but very little (if anything) has yet been done about this group of people who burnt a man to death. They may even get away with it, it's still to be determined.

Or would you rather we forget that it even happened because it's no longer newsworthy in your opinion?

I just quickly glanced at the article and it seemed identical to the previous one for the most part, and obviously missed that line where it states that things have been delayed. Pretty damn pathetic that this is taking so long to resolve.

A snail ??? Magic penis ???
These hallucinations are caused by all the local schit that they smoke and the battery acid that they use in their cheap beer concoction!

Well if the believe in magic penises then I guess its not that surprising that they believe in nationalization...

They should all have been thrown in jail ages ago. Or just lined up and shot. Then others wont stay in poverty because these nut cases have to be fed for the rest of their lives on taxpayer money.

well well :wtf: since we seem to be stuck in the middle ages down here can I be a Knight?

Ah, then we're in agreement :D

Murder is murder fair enough, in our eyes! But speaking to some of our local informals their problem is: person A uses w/craft against person B & lets say something does happen in persons B family! Their main gripe is that then they have no recourse to the law (our western law, ie) so they have to take the law into their own hands!

And we still have many who have a problem with a qualified vote.

It's truly depressing to think that our fate lies in the hands of superstitious yokels like this. No wonder the ANC does so well in the rural areas.

So let's get this straight: the alleged witch transformed herself into a snail to terrorise the community. Not a lion, or a tokoloshe, or a devil... A SNAIL. Of all the animals to terrorise someone with, a snail would be somewhere near the bottom of my list. How would a snail even do the whole terrorising thing?

The sad thing is that her alleged scare tactics allegedly worked, which says far more than we need to know about that community. I guess it's time for them to stop marrying their sisters.
