Motlanthe -> What do you guys think of him?

Hey

Just wondering what the general feelings about him since he is apparently tipped for next ANC leader maybe?

He doesn`t get that much news coverage, so guess he cant say too many stupid things? But then Malema supports him....which makes me wonder....

He seemed decent. Although he had JZ standing over him.

Kgalema when made interim president toed the party line to the letter and that's not a good thing. Maybe if he's his own president he'll show more backbone than JZ. Remember he's the one who hurried up and signed the Scorpions' death warrant as directed by the Polokwane ANC of '07.

Not many presidents can be worse than Zuma though. The man is a cripple everywhere but the bedroom.
 
Lol yeah i remember he was in charge for about 6 months.....didn`t know he was the one who signed the scorpions away.
 
He also did nothing about Vusi Pikoli's suspension even when it was clear he was being fired on a weak pretext. The ANC didn't want Pikoli because he was too independent even though they didn't like Mbeki.
 
Is it somehow possible for malema to be the next president in the upcoming elections? Could the anc oust zuma and put in malema?

Technically possible. Malema is a member of the ANC and any member can be elected president.
 
I like him.

There is something very dignified about his demeanor. He reminds me of a black President Lincoln.

I thought he did a reasonably good job as the stand in president.

No he can't. Although he's head of ANCYL he still has to serve out his second term and then move into the ranks of the ANC proper and still work his way up, will be quite a while before he can become president
 
I like the man, if it's at all possible to like an ANC politician! ;)

Remember he did sweet blow all when he was President, as he had been given very strict orders to simply keep the seat warm for JZ 6 months down the line. If he gets in on his own merit, which he should, if there is any decency left in that rotten party, I really think you will see a radically different man in power.

Oh, and Malema only backs him because he knows that there's a chance of him becoming his next baas. :p

Good way to put it. What I have seen/heard of him he does seem to be an improvement on Zuma. I have always for some reason had the idea that he is the one doing all the actual governing work while Zuma and the rest run around and throw parties.
 
Eventually every president makes you nostalgic for his predecessor...
 
Motlanthe is the type of politician that might have some skeletons in the closet, but he will never run this country to the ground. He respects the constitution to the latter and also respects the ANC's constitution. Some people might have a problem with Motlanthe respecting the ANC's constitution but that's the type of guy he is. He might have signed the scorpions away but we all know that the scorpions were being used by Mbeki to try crush Zuma, even though the scorpions solved some very good cases, especially huge drug busts. I like Motlanthe and the only reason Malema wants Motlanthe to be president is because Malema knows that Motlanthe will follow any ANC resolution, just as long as it's constitutional. Motlanthe has repeatedly said that the ANCYL's expropriation without compensation will and shouldn't happen because it's unconstitutional. So clearly the man is a perfect dude. Too bad he doesn't dance and too bad he's old, and too bad people who don't speak vernacular languages will battle to pronounce his name and surname.

You don't get to the top of a corrupt cesspit of an organization like the ANC by being an honest, decent individual with scruples. Wake up
 
Kgalema Mothlanthe gave me tons more faith in his leadership than the current goon.

Provided he was not a puppet for some other clown in his party, I wouldn't mind seeing him return.
