Sentech’s BizNet Express takes aim at Telkom’s Diginet service

Very interesting, more info here, but no pricing from what ic...:confused:

@TheRoDent, extremely low-key this launch - unless there was an event @ Montecasino...?

I'm still not clear on the [aparently] proprietary wireless technology being used to implement Sentech's BizNet Express - clearly not MyWireless by the sound & looks of it - interesting that "Current Coverage Areas" includes
Johannesburg

Pretoria

Cape Town

Durban

Nelspruit

I'm amazed that Sentech has been able to keep this so quiet - even if Sentech has only been adding new radio equipment onto existing towers [I assume already populated with stuff like MyWireless etc], how is it that no one noticed...

I wouldn't say it was completely kept under wraps... i read about it on their website many months back and made inquiries. I was told i would be contacted by a 'sales person' in the new year when i was launched...

Maybe no-one bothers to go to their site anymore :D

What would a service like this cost overseas, oecd country for instance?
 
They are using VectraStar. We got some on trial some time ago - id love to see how they deploy a CPE weighing in at 8.5kgs.
 
The service wont be cheap - the CPEs cost a small fortune.

I confess to being 100% guilty of not visiting Sentech's site anymore, but I hardly ever have a reason to visit any of the other broadband network operator sites either - I've got Google alerts setup to do the trawling for me - will have to change that alert to look for more than just "MyWireless"...:D
 
if its significantly cheaper it cant be competition can it ?
 
Very interesting indeed. Would be nice if we new the prices. If the stability (incl. security) is comparable to that of Telkom leased lines and better then I think it deserves my attention.
 
Hmm. Still no pricing.

I mailed them earlier today and enquired about a few low speed links (64 to 256)... Will post the prices if I get anything meaningfull from them.
 
Thank you for showing interest in our products and services. Unfortunately I cannot give you pricing, but what I can tell you is that our pricing will on average be 5-20% better than Telkom's retail price. Herewith some info:

BizNet is only going to be available in Gauteng, Durban, Cape Town and Nelspruit initially. Proposals and pricing will be supplied on completion of a URS. There are many factors that influence the price like the distance between the customer sites, etc.

On completion of the URS some of the following processes need to be concluded before quotation:

i) RF Planning
ii) Capacity
iii) Sector configuration
iv) Spectrum/stock availability

Well... 64K DigiNET from Telkom, 2500PM (got those prices today)... 5% of that... It might just be affordable. Will complete their little spreadsheet and humour them... Perhaps I'll actually get this... Hmmm...
 
Does BizNet Express actually exist?

Two and a half years later, I've yet to hear of anyone actually using this service. Does it exist? Did it ever?

I've spoken to Sentech about it more than once, but answers were few and far between.

Has anyone used it?
