Zynga sued over online social gaming patent infringement

Oh please, games have been using these kinds of schemes for from beyond 1996. Online gambling, in its most basic form, consists of a system utilizing online credits in order to play a game, where your gameplay determines the outcome of your credit balance.

For this guy's patent to be valid he'd have to sue virtually every single online gambling outfit ever created.

*edit* The CNET article doesn't even reference the patents in question, which should have online versions.
 
Software patents are absurd, especially when it comes to generic programs like games. Also its funny how Zynga is only being sued after all this time, after being valued at $11 billion. Must be a coincidence.

The patent office should really consider hiring some chimpanzees. That way they can increase the intelligence level of their patent evaluators by orders of magnitude.

Haha, so true! But that's the sad way that people are trying to make money nowadays. Sue & hope to get an out of court settlement & a few minutes of fame.
