Telkom to blame for degraded IS ADSL service?

Had the market been opened to competition 3 years ago, the SNO could have climbed in and given IS the link they need.

I think its really time for the government and Telkom to realise that maybe the demand for internet in SA has grown out of the capability of just one operator. The main problem is that the people calling the shots are thinking of there own well fare and not the endless possibility and prosperity that a cost effective internet can offer a country.
 
/methinks we should demand a fsking referendum and force this useless fsking governmint to give us what we need.

This is why we need the FNO (fifth network operator). For all I know the SNO is in closed doors with the ONO (only...), discussing who gets to screw who.
 
For my Christmas gift I asked for adsl price reduction. Anybody know if we're getting a reprieve this year?
 
Telkom stated that they will shift their revenue sources to be provided mostly from their digital systems. Like ADSL.

So : price - drop = Bwaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahaha.
 
What a crock, surely someone can / must be made accountable for the current situation!

Guys think about it....as much as I don't like Telkom they are not really to blame here......the Government should have seen this and acted on it years and years ago. They should not have released 1 licence but 3 or 4.

Telkom is just in a good position and as a business they have to exploit it. Yes they are rubbish but why should they improve. We are blaming the result of a system rather than blaming the system.
 
I don't think it is entirely the government. While IS is competition against Telkom then of course they will take their time to install the network... so most off the people will move and use their "TelkomInternet" service. Yet now they say it’s the government delaying this. Granted things takes time when dealing with the government. But profit is what Telkom is about. They should help IS faster and the government should support this, since they(gov) have shares in Telkom.
But this is my view and I am not a analyst so I could be wrong :p
 
Just another reason why TELKOM should be bent over the bench/chair/table/couch/etc and get the treatment like they have been giving to us! It's gone on too long and I don't want my grandchildren to have only TELKOM to deal with! Maybe it's time to go back to the old days of writing letters and mailing dics!!!
 
Well that would be cheaper. Then the government will step in and make better infrastructure for communication since the back step in what u call “writing letters and mailing dics” will congest the roads and make bigger problems in all sectors of business …LOL

The article says Telkom must dig up the road to lay extra cabling and are waiting on the council for approval.

Can't they use a microwave link in the mean time ???.
 
There is no longer a need to dig up roads Telkon uses contracted cable companies and these guys use drilling rigs all that is required is a largish hole in the sidewalks on both sides of the road and they drill to the other side i`ve seen it done in less than 2 days, pipe in and cable thru ..... i`m smelling a rat ... a big dead one
 
Gunny, I too smell something, although it seems more like fishy ;)

People talk like Telkom has a choice in this; our government effectively owns Telkom and expects results (money) no matter what. In this climate, we cannot expect anything to change. Worse, with all the worms coming out of the woodwork in SA, I ask all, is this a viable country for our children's future?

ROFLOL...no wonder my connection keeps loosing sync..its Ivy's lazyness that is effecting the morale of the telkom/government employees to come and fix the bloody D-slam.
