Hi MTN

I would like to request that there will be 3G coverage for the Durbanville Area of Cape Town. Currently even centre's like Tygervalley or Cape Gate are without 3G or even EDGE coverage.

I am currently using a MTN Data Bundle every month, but I will most likely move to Vodacom (which has coverage in my area) if MTN cant deliver 3G.

Any MTN represetatives, please response in this thread, Vodacom's Vodacom3g has been very helpful in the past with resolving my problems, I hope MTN will be the same.

Mr.G

and while we are on the subject of 3G coverage ... how about the Fish Hoek area? We dont even have GPRS+. And yet, according to the map on the MTN site, vast areas of the highly populated ocean DOES have GPRS+.......

Durbanville edge coverage poor

I agree, I am also in DVille and the connection rates are way slower than advertised

The strange thing that I find is that no MTN Reprasentive has even commented here. Vodacom3G has answered three of my questions since I have posted the above request. Where is MTN?

seriously, not a single comment from MTN... sad sad sad, I am going to go to MTN tommorow and complain about this. Gonna be there 1 hour before movie starts at Ster-Kinekor so might aswell complain about the poor results I get from MTN @ MyADSL

As far as I know, MTN really isnt required to answer questions here. They should, however, have a forum or something set up on their own site for us to ask questions. (Then they would have to respond!) :D

Oh just move to Vodacom already! Have you seen the different coverage maps for 3G ?!?!?!?! No contest!!

I already using Vodacom for my 3G needs where before I was with MTN.

No access to Edge or 3G in Simon's Town, so I guess it is going to be worth moving to Vodacom: maybe after the permanent number dispensation.

Any ideas on when permanent number dispensation is going to take effect? I keep getting different answers to that one. (Sooon I hope.)

Im in Durbanville area for the weekend - poor EDGE coverage. Not sure about 3G...

Working on a GPRS session (5KBps) while typing message - really slow, but acceptable for normal Web / Email activities.

I agree that we need a full GPRS/GPRS+/EDGE/3G coverage map for all networks!!

VERY slow progress on coverage

I stuck with MTN when renewing contract a year back, buying the line that the EDGE strategy would ensure wide coverage of at least one broadband solution. At the time Vodacom already had 3G both where I work (Observatory, CT) and where I live (Hout Bay, CT). Now 1 year later have patchy EDGE where I work, nothing in Hout Bay, and generally when I travel more often than not I have no broadband solution at all. Come on MTN, you can surely do better.

Good day,

CeeBee;647747

Do you have the ref # I'll follow up for you

MTNDD

Hi MTNDD, I will PM u the ref no.
Pity there's not more MTN guys as sharp as you ... u should ask 4 a raise :p
Ag, but don't sweat it... to be honest, I didn't reeeaally expect an answer in 7days, have been dealing with MTN for many years, since '94 ... 7days, jaaa right :D
But they shouldn't really be putting a time on callback if it is unrealistic.
Anyway just wanted to know about the coverage plans
