Would it really cost that much more to design these consoles with a additional memory expansion slot?

Problem is the ones who don't upgrade won't be able to play the new games which defeats the purchase of a console.

That's their problem. Being able to increase a consoles memory after like 2-3yrs would be a cool feature. If people really want to play a new game they would spend R100 for a memory module they can plu in themselves.

That already applies to games that require special peripherals.

As it is they already cut corners to shave costs, so whatever the cost of having a memory expansion slot it is one of those things that is likely to get cut before production.

Different models of the PSP have different amounts of RAM, and even different processor speed I think.
